Abstract Understanding the effects of mining activities on Amazonian streams and their impact aquatic communities is paramount importance in current context resource overexploitation society. In this study, we assessed significance environment interspecific interactions organization patterns semiaquatic insect species a mineral extraction region eastern Amazon. We utilized morpho functional characteristics 22 from suborder Gerromorpha (Heteropteran), considering both abundance sexual dimorphism these species. Additionally, quantified density riparian vegetation surrounding each stream to categorize sampling points evaluate whether there are differences distribution among categories. sampled 16 sites, categorized into two treatments based percentage forested deforested areas located Capim River Basin. did not find action environmental filters total assembly; however, found significant morphological divergence for all traits analyzed. On other hand, separation with different portions showed that between them regarding patterns. Forested within 500m radius have distributed over larger area, indicating greater availability or can use resources more efficiently. Our results demonstrate studied communities, as well mitigating impacts caused by activities.
