Abstract Background The preconception period represents transgenerational opportunities to optimize modifiable risk factors associated with both short and long-term adverse health outcomes for women, men, children. As such, care is recommended couples during this time enable them optimise their in preparation pregnancy. Historically, research predominately focuses on maternal risks behaviours pregnancy offspring outcomes; limited attention has been given inform paternal outcomes. This systematic review aims advance by synthesising the current evidence identify associations and/or Methods Medline, Embase, Maternity Infant care, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Scopus, ISI Proceedings were searched 5 th of January 2023, a date limit was set [2012–2023] each database. Maternal and paternal perinatal depression anxiety are theorised to adversely impact infant development. Yet, few studies have assessed both mental health symptoms clinical diagnoses within the one study. Moreover, research on fathers is limited. This study therefore aimed examine association between of maternal with development.Data were from Triple B Pregnancy Cohort Study. Participants included 1539 mothers 793 partners. Abstract Emerging evidence points to the transition parenthood as a critical window for adult neural plasticity. Studying fathers offers unique opportunity explore how parenting experience can shape human brain when pregnancy is not directly experienced. Yet very few studies have examined neuroanatomic adaptations of men transitioning into fatherhood. The present study reports on an international collaboration between two laboratories, one in Spain and other California (United States), that prospectively collected structural neuroimaging data 20 expectant before after birth their first child. Spanish sample also included control group 17 childless men. We tested whether fatherhood entailed anatomical changes cortical volume, thickness, area, subcortical volumes. found overlapping trends volume reductions within default mode network visual networks preservation structures across both samples first-time fathers, which persisted controlling fathers’ children’s age at postnatal scan. This provides convergent supporting possibility may represent meaningful experience-induced neuroplasticity males.

Abstract Background Anxiety symptoms during pregnancy are a frequent mental health issue for expectant mothers and fathers. Research revealed that prenatal anxiety can impact parent-child bonding child development. This study aims to investigate the prospective relationship between general development whether it is mediated by bonding. Considering paucity of perinatal research on fathers, their inclusion particular interest. Abstract Background: Paternal perinatal mental health influences subsequent child development, yet is under-investigated. This study aims to examine the impact of different timings paternal anxiety (prenatal-only, postnatal-only, and both pre-and postnatally) on children’s emotional behavioral difficulties. Method: We used data from Avon Longitudinal Study Parents Children tested prospective associations between in fathers adverse outcomes children at 3 years, 6 months 7 months. Results: whose were anxious period higher risk outcomes, compared not perinatally. At months, highest group was one with prenatally-only; non-anxious fathers, prenatal-only significantly more likely present difficulties, measured by total problems (unadjOR = 1.82, 95%CI [1.28, 2.53]). exposed pre- postnatally any psychiatric disorder 2.35, [1.60, 3.37]) group. Conclusions: a factor for even after accounting maternal health, temperament, sociodemographic factors, should be overlooked research clinical practice.
