Methods A retrospective cross-sectional was conducted on 57 TAO, involving 109 orbits. Using EUGOGO severity grading system, were categorized into three groups: Mild (45 orbits), Moderate-to-Severe (48 DON (16 orbits). All participants underwent comprehensive ophthalmological assessments, using RAPDx device (Konan Medical), MRI (GE 3.0 Signa Creator, GE Medical Systems). measurements included bone wall area, extraocular muscle proptosis. Differences clinical characteristics, function indicators, MRI-derived analyzed Generalized Estimating Equations (GEE). ABSTRACT Introduction Assessments of the pupil’s response to light have long been an integral part neurologic examinations. More recently, pupillary reflex (PLR) has shown promise as a potential biomarker for diagnosis mild traumatic brain injury. However, date, few large-scale normative data are available comparison and reference, particularly, in military service members. The purpose this study was report values eight PLR measurements among healthy academy cadets based on sex, age, sleep, race, ethnicity, anisocoria, concussion history. Methods Freshmen entering U.S. Service Academy completed quantitative pupillometric assessment conjunction with baseline testing. were conducted using Neuroptics PLR-3000 121 µW stimulus. device measured maximum minimum pupil diameter (mm), latency (time constriction post-light stimulus [s]), peak average velocity (mm/s), dilation percentage constriction, T75 re-dilation from 75% [s]). During testing, also reported history (yes no) hours slept night before (<5.5 ≥5.5). Normative each measurement calculated mean ± SD, percentiles, interquartile range. Mann–Whitney U tests used assess differences history, measurement. Kruskall–Wallis testing anisocoria. Alpha set at .05 nonparametric effect sizes (r) statistically significant results. Effect interpreted no (r < .1), small ≥.1–<.3), medium ≥.3–<.5), or large ≥ .5). All procedures reviewed approved by local institutional review board Army Human Research Protection Office conducted. Each subject provided informed consent participate collection. Results Of 1,197 participants baselined, 514 (131 female; 18.91 0.96 years) consented valid assessment. Eighty least one previous 5.88 1.63 h night. results suggest females had larger initial (z = −3.240; P .001; r .10) end −3.080; .002; .10), slower 3.254; .11) faster −3.342; .11). Age, race stratified displayed impact specific metrics ranging medium, while did not display metrics. Conclusion This provides largest population-specific measurements. Initial diameter, velocity, differed sex; however, these may be clinically size detected all Sex, worth consideration when performing assessments injury management.

Abstract Background Pupillary evaluation is a crucial element of physical exams. Noting size, reactivity, and consensual response critical in assessing for optic nerve dysfunction. We aim to establish normative data scotopic pupillary size function the pediatric population clinical setting. Methods Pupillometry was obtained prospectively consecutive, normal patients < 18 years old being evaluated by Lurie Children’s Ophthalmology. Quantitative included maximum (MAX) minimum (MIN) diameters, constriction percentage (CON), latency (LAT), average (ACV) (MCV) velocities, dilation velocity (ADV), 75% recovery time (T75). Iris color noted as light, intermediate, or dark. Results 196 eyes 101 participants (42.6% male, ages 1–17 years, age 10.3 years) were analyzed. Mean MAX 6.6 mm (5.1–8.1 95% CI); MIN 4.7 (3.1–6.1 CON 30% (17–42 LAT 230 milliseconds (160–300 ms ACV 3.70 mm/sec (2.21–5.18 ADV 0.88 (0.38–1.38 CI). Age had positive correlation with MAX, MIN, CON. 84.2 95.8% showed resting pupil asymmetry ≤0.5 ≤ 1.0 mm, respectively. Conclusions pupillometry can be useful tool screening patients. sought this group. found males have significantly greater MCV than females ( p 0.05). Also,

Idiopathic hypersomnia (IH), characterized by an excessive day-time sleepiness, a prolonged total sleep time on 24 h and/or reduced latency, affects 1 in 2000 individuals from the general population. However, IH remains underdiagnosed and inaccurately treated despite colossal social, professional personal impacts. The pathogenesis of is poorly known, but recent works have suggested possible alterations phototransduction. In this context, to identify biomarkers IH, we studied Post-Illumination Pupil Response (PIPR) using specific pupillometry protocol reflecting melanopsin-mediated pupil response patients with (TST > 660 min) healthy subjects. Twenty-eight (women 86%, 25.4 year-old ± 4.9) 29 controls 52%, 27.1 3.9) were included. After correction baseline diameter, PIPR was compared between groups correlated sociodemographic parameters. We found that had lower relative (32.6 9.9% vs 38.5 10.2%, p = 0.037) suggesting melanopsin response. addition, not age, chronotype, TST, nor depressive symptoms. melanopsin-specific may be innovative trait marker might promising tool better characterize hypersomnia.

To evaluate the effects of stimulus intensity, aging, sex, smoking and eye symmetry on pupillary light reflex (PLR) parameters. We evaluated 2812 eyes from 1406 subjects in a single-centre, cross-sectional study. PLR data were collected using four different intensities. We prepared two models for each eight parameters, defined model with lowest values Akaike's information criterion (AIC) as being best-fit. Model A was linear regression without adjustment among-individual variability, while B mixed-effects (LMMs) adjusted variability. The coefficients compared.Model showed AIC all parameters best fit. For age symmetry, yielded similar results parameters. sex index, some opposite results, i.e., significant did not. These indicate that are factors affect These should be when evaluating clinical potential diagnostic tool. In addition, adjusting variability due to LMMs can improve fit reduce false positives. This reveal association between increased accuracy.

This study aimed to evaluate glare source-induced disk halo size and assess its correlation with higher-order aberrations (HOAs), pupillometry findings, contrast sensitivity in myopic adults (aged 23.8 ± 4.4 years). In this cross-sectional study, 150 eyes of patients were assessed. All underwent routine ophthalmic examinations, wavefront aberrometry, measurement, dynamic pupillometry, tests. Spearman's analysis independent sample t -tests performed for data analysis. The mean radius was 82.5 21.8 236.7 52.2 arc min at 5 1 cd/m 2 luminance levels, respectively. values inversely correlated internal spherical aberration (SA) ( r = −0.175, p 0.032 −0.241, 0.003, respectively), but not equivalent (SE, both > 0.05). Positive correlations observed between pupil size, contraction amplitude, dilation speed during pupillary light reflex. Halo radii levels significantly the area under log function −0.093, 0.258 −0.149, 0.069, respectively). clinically different healthy level did differ high low-to-moderate myopia (all According a stepwise linear regression model, SA had negative effect on low photpic condition; average diameter, corneal HOAs played large role determining mesopic condition.
