Bird
nests
are
essential
structures
that
directly
determine
the
fitness
of
an
organism.
While
there
is
theory
and
evidence
predicting
association
between
species
nest
traits
their
habitat,
few
studies
have
comprehensively
examined
macroevolutionary
patterns
driving
evolution,
niche
interrelation.
Using
information
on
3174
songbirds,
we
show
build
domed
(i.e.

roof)
smaller
ranges,
narrower
thermal
niches,
less
likely
to
colonise
urban
environments
potentially
higher
extinction
rates
compared
open
nests.
Moreover,
these
could
be
driven
by
energetic
demands
when

nests,

opportunities.

from

a
complex
process
that
can
unfold
in
many
different
ways.
