This study aimed to evaluate the effects of excessive and episodic consumption ethanol (EtOH, a high-intensity drinking manner) on induced apical periodontitis in rats. Thirty-two animals were divided into following four groups: control, EtOH, periodontitis, EtOH + periodontitis. Ethanol exposure (3 g/kg 20 % w/v EtOH) was performed by orogastric gavage for 3 consecutive days, followed 4 days withdrawal weeks. Lesions exposing dental pulp lower first molar absence any treatment/curative 28 days. Finally, euthanized, mandibles collected. The mandible medially, with one hemimandible being used micro-computed tomography analysis volume periapical lesion bone quality parameters, such as trabecular assessments; other histological analysis, descriptive histopathological tissue pattern loss presented, well an assessment collagen content present. data subjected statistical (one-way variance Tukey's post-hoc test). Our results showed that group had larger lesions than not exposed ethanol. Additionally, parameters reduction thickening trabeculae, associated increased destruction reduced remnant region alveolar bone. These suggest alcohol is aggravating factor and, consequently, its progression, quantity remaining are modulating aspects.

Abstract Apical periodontitis (AP) is a common and clinically significant oral health condition, associated with an inflammatory response to infections within the root canal system. As patients retain natural teeth for longer, managing AP becomes more complex. Whilst generally effective, endodontic treatment outcomes can vary considerably in individuals systemic conditions, such as autoimmune diseases. The intersection of inflammation, immune dysfunction pharmacological treatments different diseases raises important questions about how influence prevalence healing. This article examines current evidence on this interplay, its clinical implications need tailored approaches

Abstract Stimuli‐responsive hydrogels are smart and functional materials that respond to various environmental stimuli, including temperature, light, magnetic field, pH, redox, enzymes glucose. This responsiveness allows for the controlled release of therapeutic agents encapsulated within hydrogels, enhancing treatment precision, improving outcomes minimizing side effects. Such show great potential in root canal disinfection, management dental pulp inflammation regeneration, making them promising candidates more personalized effective endodontic treatments. article provides an overview latest advancements design application stimuli‐responsive endodontics, emphasizing their revolutionize It also addresses current challenges explores future directions aiming inspire motivate researchers further engage or intensify efforts this area research.

Abstract Background ZEB1, a zinc-finger E homeobox-binding transcription factor most frequently associated with developmental programs linked to epithelial-mesenchymal transition, has been demonstrated regulate immune cell function. The study aimed investigate the expression pattern of ZEB1 in Th17 cells and its colocalization p-STAT3 human apical periodontitis lesions. Methods Thirty-nine periapical tissues were collected for ex vivo study, including granulomas (PGs, n = 14), radicular cysts (RCs, 12), healthy control (control group, 13). Inflammatory infiltration lesions was assessed using hematoxylin-eosin staining. detected analyzed by immunohistochemistry. localization fluorescence colocalization. Results significantly higher PGs RCs than group; however no significant difference between two groups observed. Immunofluorescence analysis revealed that correlated IL17 CD4 double-positive ZEB1/ predominant group. Conclusions elevated RCs, expression. This is potential player STAT3 activation pathogenesis.
