Abstract The MgSiN 2 whisker, as a novel ternary nitride, exhibits considerable potential an advanced high‐temperature toughening material. In this study, the supported catalysis method was employed to synthesize whisker for first time, well impacts of catalyst precursor and heat treatment temperature on phase, morphology, growth mechanism were investigated. results showed that Fe, Co, Ni precursors all had catalytic effects whisker. Co exhibited superior efficacy, significantly enhancing yield length‐to‐diameter ratio Furthermore, increases, transitions from vapor–solid (VS) vapor–liquid–solid (VLS), ultimately dislocation‐mediated mechanism. successful synthesis measuring approximately 0.6 µm in diameter 20–30 length, achieved at 1400°C.
