Abstract Aim Given the rapid pace of climate change and its significant impact on species distribution survival, understanding dynamics ecological niches over time becomes imperative. By employing niche models models, alongside analyses historical occurrence records palaeoclimatic data, we aimed to assess extent changes in Porites astreoides from Holocene present. Specifically, quantified amount of: (1) stability, (2) expansion, (3) decline (4) overlap both environmental geographical space. Location Atlantic Ocean. Taxon Cnidarian, Scleractinia. Materials Methods Through fossil current variables same periods, use two modelling approaches (overlap maximum entropy) analyse space, specifically degree stability loss last ~8000 years. We used a principal component analysis build within different calibration areas (minimum convex polygon buffer). Results Our results were similar, except for habitat, across models. The PCA accounts more than 65% variation data. Most remained stable with an increase almost third negligible loss. Models space showed that most suitable area stable, but expanded range Caribbean coast Brazil. also high value spaces. Main Conclusions studied is one corals greatest capacity adapt new environments locations, it has tendency preserve traits. These characteristics helped expand period relative climatic stability. On other hand, these conservatism can lead population habitat loss, if speed adaptation lower predicted middle end 21st century.
