Abstract
Aim
Given
the
rapid
pace
of
climate
change
and
its
significant
impact
on
species
distribution
survival,
understanding
dynamics
ecological
niches
over
time
becomes
imperative.
By
employing
niche
models
models,
alongside
analyses
historical
occurrence
records
palaeoclimatic
data,
we
aimed
to
assess
extent
changes
in
Porites
astreoides
from
Holocene
present.
Specifically,
quantified
amount
of:
(1)
stability,
(2)
expansion,
(3)
decline
(4)
overlap
both
environmental
geographical
space.
Location
Atlantic
Ocean.
Taxon
Cnidarian,
Scleractinia.
Materials
Methods
Through
fossil
current
variables
same
periods,
use
two
modelling
approaches
(overlap
maximum
entropy)
analyse
space,
specifically
degree
stability
loss
last
~8000
years.
We
used
a
principal
component
analysis
build
within
different
calibration
areas
(minimum
convex
polygon
buffer).
Results
Our
results
were
similar,
except
for
habitat,
across
models.
The
PCA
accounts
more
than
65%
variation
data.
Most
remained
stable
with
an
increase
almost
third
negligible
loss.
Models
space
showed
that
most
suitable
area
stable,
but
expanded
range
Caribbean
coast
Brazil.
also
high

Main
Conclusions
studied
is
one
corals
greatest
capacity
adapt
new
environments
locations,
it
has
tendency
preserve

characteristics

expand

relative
climatic

conservatism
