Prematurity is becoming a real public health issue as more and children are being born prematurely, alongside higher prevalence of neurodevelopmental disorders. Early intervention programs in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) correspond to these uni- or multi-sensorial solicitations aiming prevent detect complications order support the development preterm infants. This article aims distinguish sensory according gradient type solicitations, multi-modal, function person who performs interventions. Uni-sensorial interventions essentially based on proprioceptive, gustatory, odorant solicitations. They allow, particular, reduction apneas that vegetative states infant. On other hand, benefits multi-sensory seem have longer-term impact. Most them allow transition from passive active feeding, an increase weight, improvement sleep-wake cycles. These often practiced by caregivers, but parents appears optimal since they main co-regulators their child's needs. Thus, it necessary co-construct train this neonatal care.

To ascertain parental perceptions of the impact restricted visiting policies to neonatal intensive care units during current COVID-19 pandemic.Cross-sectional survey parents impacted by visitation policies.Six tertiary level units, four from UK and two USA, participated in study.Parents families infants hospitalised participating centres between 1 May 2020 21 August 2020.Online-based and/or paper-based survey, querying their on parents' ability visit, for bond with infants.A total 231 responses were received. Visitation limited a single visitor no restrictions duration was most frequently reported policy; 140/217 (63%). perceived as being restrictive 62% (138/219) respondents 37% (80/216) reporting able visit less often than desired, 41% (78/191) unable enough 27% (51/191) not participate baby's daily care. Mild severe breast feeding 36% (75/209) respondents. Stricter had higher significantly associated lack bonding time, inability an adverse feeding.Visitation pandemic varied over time stricter implemented earlier pandemic. Parents significant impacts severity worse restrictions.

Abstract A range of psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, and post‐traumatic stress disorder frequently co‐occur with functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. Risk these pathologies is particularly high in those a history trauma, abuse, chronic stress. These scientific findings rising awareness within the healthcare profession give rise to need for an integrative framework understand developmental mechanisms that observations. In this paper, we introduce plausible explanatory framework, based on Polyvagal Theory (Porges, Psychophysiology , 32 301–318, 1995; Porges, International Journal 42 123–146, 2001; Biological Psychology 74 116–143, 2007), which describes how evolution impacted structure function autonomic nervous system (ANS). To assess the effectiveness of family-centered care (FCC) interventions on motor and neurobehavior development very preterm infants. Randomized quasi-randomized trials assessing effect FCC neurobehavioral outcomes in infants (28-32 wk gestation) were included. Five electronic databases grey literature searched from January 2010 to August 2022. Two reviewers independently screened titles/abstracts full texts, assessed risk bias, extracted data. The Cochrane Risk Bias 2.0 Tool GRADE used for evidence certainty assessments. Meta-analysis or narrative synthesis was performed based data availability heterogeneity. Seventeen with 21 publications showed low moderate evidence. At 24 months, improved (Mean Difference (MD):5.00, 95% CI: 2.58-7.42), cognitive (MD: 3.64, 1.15-6.12), behavior -2.40, -4.32, -0.48) compared control groups. Further, minimal inconclusive effects language, communication, personal social measured anytime between newborn months age. Premature delivery and maternal separation during hospitalisation increase infant neurodevelopmental risk. Previously, a randomised controlled trial of Family Nurture Intervention (FNI) in the neonatal intensive care unit demonstrated improvement across multiple mother domains including increased electroencephalographic (EEG) power frontal polar region at term age. New aims were to quantify developmental changes EEG all brain regions frequencies correlate among regions.EEG (128 electrodes) was obtained 34-44 weeks postmenstrual age from preterm infants born 26-34 weeks. Forty-four treated with Standard Care 53 FNI. computed 10 frequency bands (1-48 Hz) active quiet sleep.Percent change/week FNI 132/200 tests (p < 0.05), 117 passed 5% False Discovery Rate threshold. In addition, greater regional independence those rates change. This study strengthens conclusion that promotes cerebral cortical development infants. The findings indicate may provide biomarkers for risk as well proximal markers effects

Abstract Background The aim of this study was to review the effects developmental care in neonatal intensive unit (NICU) setting on mental and motor development preterm infants. Method We searched PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Scopus, Web Science Cochrane library until October 8th 2017, included randomized controlled trials that assessed NICU infants at 12 24 months age, using Bayley scale infant systematic review. In addition, data were pooled by random model Standardized Mean Difference (SMD) with 95% confidence intervals (CI), calculated for meta-analysis. Results Twenty one studies eligible be review; however, only thirteen had suitable According statistical analysis, improved index (MDI) (standardized mean difference [SMD] 0.55, interval [CI] 0.23–0.87; p < 0.05), psychomotor (PDI) (SMD 0.33, CI 0.08–0.57; 0.05) BSID age PDI 0.15, -0.02–0.32; 0.1) However, benefit not detected MDI -0.05–0.35; = 0.15). Conclusion Current evidence suggests could have significant effect infants, especially age. because clinical heterogeneity, more are needed evaluate
