In China, three institutes for botanical research were established in the 1920s, namely Department of Botany, Biological Laboratory Science Society China (1922, Nanjing), Fan Memorial Institute Biology (1928, Peiping), and Peiping Academy Sciences (1929, Peiping). Since then, plant taxonomy, systematics, phytogeography have advanced prospered as scientific disciplines China. Among great botanists who studied at those institutes, others that over following 100 years, was Prof. Tang (surname) Yan-Cheng (given name) (汤彦承, abbreviated Y. C. Tang) (7 July 1926–6 August 2016). There are about 140 species of Callicarpa L. 1753 (Lamiaceae), with more richness in tropical to subtropical Asia and the New World. The genus might provide an insight into amphi-Pacific disjunction pattern vegetation. This study has greatly improved phylogenetic underpinning for Callicarpa, derived from inclusive taxonomic samplings, employing data on both two-nuclear eight-chloroplast regions. To address time patterns diversification we conducted divergence biogeographic analyses, inferred shifts distribution areas across clades. Our results show that is monophyletic respect groups considered, eight well-supported primary clades were discerned combined analyses. estimates indicated crown group originates around Late-Eocene (ca. 36.23 Ma) within most concentrated Miocene continued Pleistocene. In addition, our analyses suggested probable ancestor clade originated East Southeast Asia. Multiple dispersal vicariance events contributed current taxa. Furthermore, this expanded eastward out World by long-distance dispersal, which inspired us better understand disjunct distribution.

The common dogwood (Cornus sanguinea L., Cornaceae) across the European continent represents a species with validated ornamental and nutraceutical value that has been utilized by humans for thousands of years but abandoned during modern times. It still however, valuable neglected native germplasm resource. development an asexual propagation protocol as first step towards utilization Greek C. is presented herein time. Introduction The well-known eastern Asian (EA) and North American (ENA) floristic disjunction provides a unique system for biogeographic evolutionary studies. Despite considerable interest in the disjunction, few studies have investigated patterns their underlying drivers of allopatric divergence sister species or lineages isolated two areas. Methods Metagenomic sequencing fungal ITS bacterial-archaeal 16S rDNA was used to capture communities. Soil seed banks of alien plant species are sources propagules that play a crucial role in population dynamics. Studies on woody for understanding mechanisms their encroachment natural habitats. This study aimed to compare vertical distribution, density and composition formed by native Cornus sanguinea subsp. C. alba, sericea australis the Southern Hemiboreal zone Europe. Five sites each four taxa were selected study, seeds sampled using soil core method (400 samples two layers: upper, 0–5 cm, lower, 5–10 cm). Extracted tested with tetrazolium chloride stain assess viability. Differences among compared generalised linear mixed models (GLMM). Abstract Although the vast majority of Prunus L. (Rosaceae) species have clearly differentiated sepals and petals, two former genera Maddenia Pygeum been described as having an undifferentiated perianth. However, floral morphological morphogenetic data are scarce, a renewed investigation is essential to understand evolution perianth differentiation. Here, morphogenesis in hypoleuca (Koehne) J.Wen (= Koehne) topengii (Merr.) J. Wen & Zhao Merr.) were examined with scanning electron microscopy. The development demonstrates that ten parts can be distinguished five external whorl petals internal whorl. sepal primordia broad, crescent‐shaped, truncate. petal rounded initially resemble androecium. at maturity look much same species, differing from other species. ovule anatropous unitegmic, but there basal appendage near P. which absent . direction nectaries hypanthium basipetal acropetal Perianth segments groups similarity secondarily acquired.
