Over the last decade, there has been a drive to emphasize professional identity formation in medical education. This shift had important and positive implications for education of physicians. However, increasing recognition longstanding structural inequalities within society profession highlighted how conceptualizations have also unintended harmful consequences. These include experiences threat exclusion, promotion norms values that over-emphasize preferences culturally dominant groups. International medical graduates (IMGs) account for 25% of the physician workforce in United States, yet little is known about their professional identity formation (PIF). This qualitative study explores process PIF IMG residents with special attention to how they integrate intersectional marginalized personal identities. Method: Using a social constructivist approach, researchers conducted semi-structured individual interviews 15 resident physicians States. The authors analyzed data using constant comparison approach and identified themes by consensus. Results: Participants described journey beginning before starting residencies US. The development of a robust professional identity is pivotal aspect every healthcare professional's educational journey. Critical social perspectives are increasingly influencing the examination formation within professions. While understanding how disabled students and practitioners integrate disability into their crucial, we have limited knowledge about actual identity. This study aims to investigate clinicians in professions actively shape during journeys. We conducted in-depth semi-structured interviews with 27 29 clinicians, conducting up three per participant over year, resulting 124 interviews. Participants represented five professions: medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physical work. Employing constructivist grounded theory approach, our data analysis revealed two prominent dimensions: (a) contextualization processes (b) navigation dimension which explored. emerging model sheds light on dynamic involved formation, emphasizing significance supportive environment for practitioners.
