Abstract Strawberries spoil rapidly after harvest due to factors such as the ripening process, weight loss, and, most importantly, microbial contamination. Traditionally, several methods are used preserve strawberries and extend their shelf life, including thermal, plasma, radiation, chemical, biological treatments. Although these effective, they a concern from perspective of safety consumer acceptance treated food. To address issues, more advanced environment‐friendly technologies have been developed over past decades, modified controlled atmosphere packaging, active biopolymer‐based or edible coating formulations. This method can not only significantly life fruit but also solve concerns. The strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) is a high-value crop with an annual cultivated area of ~500 ha in Taiwan. Over 90% cultivation Miaoli County. Unfortunately, various diseases significantly decrease production. leaf and fruit disease became epidemic 1986. From 2010 to 2016, anthracnose crown rot caused the loss 30–40% seedlings ~20% plants after transplanting. automation agriculture image recognition techniques are indispensable for detecting diseases. We developed technique detection using convolutional neural network (CNN) model. CNN powerful deep learning approach that has been used enhance recognition. In proposed technique, two different datasets containing original feature images following diseases—leaf blight, gray mold, powdery mildew. Specifically, blight may affect crown, leaf, show symptoms. By ResNet50 model training period 20 epochs 1306 images, achieves classification accuracy rate 100% cases affecting fruit; 98% mold cases, mildew cases. epochs, 99.60% obtained from dataset was higher than 1.53% one. Abstract Food loss of fruit and vegetables caused by postharvest diseases is a major issue worldwide. The method used to prevent control usually use chemical fungicides, but long‐term large‐scale will make the pathogens resistant potentially have negative impact on human health ecological environment. Therefore, finding safe effective biological instead hot research topic in recent years. Endophytes, colonizing plants asymptomatically, can promote growth hosts enhance their resistance. endophytes as agents for has attracted increasing attention last 20 Compared with control, advantages being more environmentally friendly, sustainable, safer. However, there are relatively few relevant studies, so herein we summarize available literature. To support the search for alternative, nonchemical plant disease control strategies, we present a review of pathogen-suppressive effects biochar, product derived from agricultural and other organic wastes, used as soil amendment. A wide range biochar contribute to root or foliar fungal pathogens through modification exudates, properties, nutrient availability, which influence growth antagonist microorganisms. The induction systemic defenses by in roots reduce pathogenic fungi, activation stress-hormone responses, well changes active oxygen species are indicative coordinated hormonal signaling within plant. Although scarce data available oomycetes bacterial pathogens, reports indicate that promotes microbiota influencing pathogen motility colonization, defenses, both contributing suppression. Biochar also suppresses nematode insect pests. For plant-parasitic nematodes, primary modes action microbial community diversity, release nematicidal compounds, defenses. Use biochar-based amendments is promising strategy compatible with circular economy, based on zero waste, part integrated pest management.
