Introduction Aeromonads are ubiquitous in aquatic environments and several species opportunistic pathogens of fish. Disease losses caused by motile Aeromonas species, particularly hydrophila , can be challenging intensive aquaculture, such as at striped catfish ( Pangasianodon hypophthalmus ) farms Vietnam. Outbreaks require antibiotic treatments, but their application is undesirable due to risks posed resistance. Vaccines an attractive prophylactic they must protect against the prevalent strains responsible for ongoing outbreaks. Methods This present study aimed characterize A. associated with mortalities culture Mekong Delta a polyphasic genotyping approach, view developing more effective vaccines. Results During 2013–2019, 345 presumptive spp. isolates were collected eight provinces. Repetitive element sequence-based PCR, multi-locus sequence typing whole-genome sequencing revealed most suspected 202 belong ST656 n = 151), which corresponds closely-related dhakensis lesser proportion belonging ST251 51), hypervirulent lineage (vAh) already causing concern global aquaculture. The vAh from outbreaks possessed unique gene sets compared published genomes, including antibiotic-resistance genes. sharing resistance determinants sulphonamides sul1 trimethoprim dfrA1 suggests similar selection pressures acting on lineages. earliest isolate (a 2013) lacked genes, suggesting relatively recent acquisition selection, this underscores need reduce antibiotics use where possible prolong effectiveness. A novel PCR assay was designed validated distinguish strains. Discussion highlights first time zoonotic that cause fatal human infection, emerging pathogen aquaculture Vietnam, widespread distribution septicaemia catfish. The distinct fishy odors found in fish products are mainly linked to the surrounding environment (eg, algae, water, and feed). These odor compounds can be intensified during processing storage as a result of lipid autoxidation, enzymatic reactions, degradation TMAO, Strecker degradation. For this purpose, area nanoapplication methods is attracting attention because their potential play crucial role maintaining quality properties fish, allowing inhibition formation unpleasant volatile through oxidation aroma precursors, such fatty acids. nanofibers NPs allow carrying fragrances flavors, resulting improved performance EOs or masking that generated oxidation. Furthermore, nanovesicles containing flavor from microalgae extend chemical decomposition with nanocoating methods. combination nanomaterials could one promising ways mask bitter taste off-odor delay spoilage future trends. Aeromonas dhakensis is increasingly recognised to be an important pathogen responsible for disease losses in warm-water aquaculture and, similar several other species, it can infect humans. Knowledge of A. accumulating, but this species remains relatively under-investigated compared its close relative, hydrophila. The significance may have been overlooked events aquatic animals due issues with reliable identification. Critical appreciating the importance application dependable molecular tools that enable accurate identification and discrimination from hydrophila motile aeromonads. This review aims synthesise key literature on dhakensis, particularly relevance aquaculture, including knowledge bacterium derived case studies hosts. Identification methods strain phylogeny are discussed, detection prompt diagnosis distinguishing strains heightened virulence. Increasing evidence suggests more virulent than correct required determine zoonotic risks posed, which includes concerns antibiotic-resistant strains. provides impetus improve future screen collections presumptive spp. retrospectively reveal true prevalence impact environment, healthcare settings.

Species diversification from major to minor carps for their sturdiness and initial higher growth, also a quest antibiotic-free aqua farming in the subcontinent, mandates search evaluation of alternatives. An experiment was performed investigate potential fructooligosaccharide (FOS) Bacillus subtilis (BS) (alone or as synbiotics) promoting growth immunity against infections Labeo fimbriatus fingerlings. Six iso-nitrogenous iso-lipidic diets containing combinations two levels FOS (0% 0.5%) three BS (0, 104, 106 CFU/g feed) were fed fish 60 days. At end feeding trial, twenty-four each group injected intra-peritoneally with pathogenic strain Aeromonas hydrophila O:18 test immunoprotective efficacy supplements bacterial infection. BS, but not FOS, significantly improved (P < 0.05) feed utilisation attributes like percentage weight gain (PWG), specific rate (SGR) conversion ratio (FCR). There interactive effects on PWG, SGR FCR; however, additive nature. These beneficial alone combination corroborated by increased protease activity, microvilli density diameter number goblet cells. Overall included erythrocyte (RBC), hemoglobin (Hb), total protein globulin levels. Total leucocyte (WBC) count immunological parameters respiratory burst activity leucocytes (NBT reduction), lysozyme albumin: post-challenge survival both dietary yielded highest improvement these parameters. Synergistic indicate that 0.5% is optimal improve utilisation, immune functions, disease resistance L.

Abstract This study aimed to assess the effects of dietary Cyanus depressus (CD) extract on rainbow trout ( Oncorhynchus mykiss ) physiology and health. Fish with an average weight 3.29 ± 0.34 g were allocated four feeding groups, receiving diets containing CD at doses 0 (Control), 0.5 (CD05), 1 (CD1), 2 (CD2) kg −1 for a period 60 days. Results revealed significant improvements in final body weight, gain, specific growth rate groups supplemented g/kg extract. Lipase activity increased notably fish fed CD0.5, CD1, CD2 diets. The CD1 group exhibited highest trypsin activity, while displayed amylase activity. Analysis gene expression levels superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) showed marked increases across all compared control, most enhancement observed Significant variations immunity-related genes among treatments, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) found diet enriched immune-related was more prominent than control group. Notably, extract, heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) group, decreased CD05 remained statistically unchanged control. Additionally, supplementation altered composition abundance intestinal microbiota trout. In conclusion, our suggests that has potential enhancing various physiological health aspects trout, particularly when g/kg.
