Abstract This study aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta‐analysis evaluating the inclusion of β‐glucan in aquaculture animal diets its impact on their health outcomes. Relevant studies were identified from Scopus Web Science databases. A total 82 primary published between 1996 2024 reviewed, which 70 included meta‐analysis. The results revealed that application animal's significantly enhanced specific growth rate (SGR; mean effect, g = 2.71; p < 0.001), feed conversion ratio (FCR; −3.88; 0.0001) lowered mortality after exposure pathogens. Likewise, had positive influence ( innate immune parameters (lysozyme phagocyte activity, NBT, ACH50, IgM). found effects β‐glucans varied among marine freshwater fish where fishes 2.05–6.57) exhibit better performance. also negative correlation fish's response trophic level, suggesting with higher levels may be less efficient at absorbing this bio‐stimulant. Even though there high heterogeneity I 2 73%–97%, 0.05) due diversity tested organisms publication bias, our model findings are valid. suggest dietary can have beneficial responses especially for species. validity these observations needs confirmed by further prospective studies.

Recently, the prevalence of Aeromonas hydrophila antibiotic-resistant strains has been reported in aquaculture, but its intrinsic antibiotic resistance mechanisms are largely unknown. In present study, a label-free proteomics technology was used to compare differential protein abundances response norfloxacin (NOR) stress A. hydrophila. The results showed that there were 186 proteins decreasing and 220 increasing NOR stress. Bioinformatics analysis differentially expressed enriched several biological processes, such as sulfur metabolism homologous recombination. Furthermore, sensitivity assays deletion AHA_0904, cirA, cysI significantly decreased against NOR, whereas ΔAHA_1239, ΔcysA, ΔcysD, ΔcysN increased NOR. Our provide insights into indicate AHA_1239, may play important roles

Herbal extracts have been considered as ideal alternative to antibiotics in aquaculture and application of combinatory effective always can exhibit the enhanced bioactivity with high efficiency. In our study, a novel herbal extract combination GF-7, which is composed Galla Chinensis, Mangosteen Shell well parts Pomegranate peel Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi extracts, was prepared applied for therapy bacterial infection aquaculture. The HPLC analysis GF-7 also investigated quality control chemical identification. bioassay, had excellent antibacterial activity against various aquatic pathogenic bacteria vitro, related MIC values were between 0.045 0.36 mg/mL. After feeding Micropterus salmoide (0.1, 0.3, 0.6%, respectively) 28 days, activities ACP, AKP, LZM, SOD, CAT liver each treatment group significantly increased content MDA decreased. Meanwhile, hepatic expression immune regulators including IL-1β, TNF-α, Myd88 at different times up-regulated varying degrees. challenge results exhibited good dose-dependent protective effect on M. salmoides infected A. hydrophila, further confirmed by histopathology. Our imply that potential natural medicine prevention numerous infectious diseases

Abstract Objective The purpose of this study was to develop ecofriendly and sustainable copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) using Padina pavonica extract. CuNPs were characterized scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for morphological analysis, energy dispersive X-ray (EDS) spectroscopy elemental composition, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) functional group identification, UV-visible optical properties. We evaluated the toxicity survival rates Guppy Poecilia reticulata larvae that subjected varied CuNP concentrations determine best concentration range future aquaculture uses. Methods different characterization stability synthesized investigated SEM, EDS, FTIR, spectroscopy. To evaluate safe exposure levels, exposed monitored over a 72-hour period. Results biosynthesized exhibited characteristic surface plasmon resonance peaks at 260 nm, confirming their formation, with FTIR revealing involvement groups like O-H O-SO3H in nanoparticle capping. SEM analysis showed irregular, aggregated CuNPs, sizes ranging from 50 200 nm. Energy confirmed including copper, oxygen, chlorine, carbon. Conclusions This article describes environmentally acceptable method manufacturing extract as natural reducing agent. established an appropriate by comparing concentrations. findings provide important insights into use aquaculture, which benefits both aquatic organism health environmental sustainability.

Bivalve microbiota play a vital role in host health, supporting nutrient processing, immunity, and disease resistance. However, the increasing hypoxia Chilean coastal waters, caused by climate change eutrophication, threatens to disrupt this microbial balance, potentially promoting pathogens impairing essential functions. Mytilus chilensis is vulnerable hypoxia-reoxygenation cycles, yet effects on its remain poorly understood. This study investigates impact of structure functional potential communities residing gills digestive glands M. chilensis. Employing full-length 16S rRNA gene sequencing, we explored hypoxia’s diversity capacity. Our results revealed significant alterations composition, with shift towards facultative anaerobes thriving low oxygen environments. Notably, there was decrease dominant bacterial taxa such as Rhodobacterales, while opportunistic Vibrio Aeromonas exhibited increased abundance. Functional analysis indicated decline critical functions associated metabolism immune support, jeopardizing health survival host. sheds light intricate interactions between host-associated environmental stressors, underlining importance managing face aquaculture practices.
