ABSTRACT Since 1989, China has become the world's largest aquaculture producer through pond culture, significantly contributing to global food security but potentially posing environmental threats. However, little is known about changes in water quality at broad spatial and temporal scales, thus creating challenges sustainability of aquaculture. Herein, we explore China's ponds from 1989 2020 assess waterbody's health status optimize sustainable management strategies. This study highlights closely associated with practices, development, related policies. Seasonal regional farming variations impact quality, peak seasons Central North lowest scores. Pond initially declined rise intensive improved after 2012 adoption ecological engineering measures, eco‐farming policies supporting green development. Under a scenario combining these efforts, score 2035 projected increase by 57% level. These findings reveal that national initiatives advancements techniques public can enhance ponds, offering valuable insights into governance agriculture.

Aquaculture originates from ancient Chinese wisdom, and is considered the most efficient food-producing industry. About 70 years ago, New China proposed an industrial approach to fish production made a policy decision begin modern aquaculture development. As one of lucky persons since early 1980s, I have committed my scholarly career studies on genetics breeding biotechnology polyploid gibel carp (Carassius gibelio). Here, several significant recent innovations, such as proposition amphitriploid concept, association ploidy changes with reproduction transition, finding unique ameio-fusiongenesis mode, establishment controllable fertility approach, creation intermuscular bone-free mutants, well recreation desirable goldfish, are introduced emphasized active participant these innovations. Additionally, some innovations contributions also highlighted in other aspects including feed development, disease control, facilities equipment upgrading, paradigm mode changes. This comprehensive synthesis wisdom seeks provide valuable insights into field historical basis.

The aquafeed industry evolved alongside fish farming, utilizing scientific and technological advancements to incorporate a variety of feed additives, supplements, alternative ingredients in the nutrition feeding aquaculture. These advances played significant role improving production, health, welfare farmed fish. Recent research Brazil highlighted importance using such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, ensure that receive all necessary nutrients for growth health. Functional additives can enhance immune system, boosting disease resistance promoting overall health Antimicrobial antiparasitic help prevent treat infections infestations, reducing occurrence outbreaks. Additionally, some improve digestibility, leading better nutrient absorption reduced requirements. Overall, nutritional strategies are essential optimizing farming practices globally, sustainability industry. This review emphasizes significance certain strategically incorporated into experimental feeds Brazilian farming. It also underscores necessity ongoing research. There is noticeable trend towards developing more sustainable efficient feeds, which future goal minimize environmental impacts while maintaining economic viability aquaculture operations.

Vibrio genus is a common pathogen in aquaculture and causes acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) massive mortality of shrimp. Many studies have suggested that single functional ingredient such as plant extract or organic acid can reduce the dependence on antibiotics promote growth immunity aquatic animals. In this study, we evaluated effects phytobiotic-based compound additive (Sanacore® GM, SNGM), which had successful trajectory commercial application fish farming. However, its hepatopancreas health intestinal microbiota shrimp after challenge not been well evaluated. present Pacific white were fed diets with without supplementation SNGM, SNGM grades 0-g/kg (CON), 3-g/kg (SNGM3), 5-g/kg (SNGM5) diets. The feed trial lasted 60 days, parahaemolyticus was performed. results showed compared to CON group, both SNGM3 SNGM5 groups significantly higher weight gain lower conversion ratio survival challenge. trial, group increased total protein, albumin concentration, phosphatase activity hemolymph group. experiment, glucose contents activities phenoloxidase, lysozyme, alkaline phosphatase, superoxide dismutase hemolymph. Both improved morphology intestine. alleviated gut dysbiosis induced by infection increasing potential probiotic bacterium abundance ( Shewanella ) decreasing pathogenic bacteria , Photobacteriuma Pseudoalteromonas Candidatus_Bacilloplasma ). conclusion, dietary at level resistance promoting immune-related enzyme improving morphological structure intestine composition.

Abstract This study aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta‐analysis evaluating the inclusion of β‐glucan in aquaculture animal diets its impact on their health outcomes. Relevant studies were identified from Scopus Web Science databases. A total 82 primary published between 1996 2024 reviewed, which 70 included meta‐analysis. The results revealed that application animal's significantly enhanced specific growth rate (SGR; mean effect, g = 2.71; p < 0.001), feed conversion ratio (FCR; −3.88; 0.0001) lowered mortality after exposure pathogens. This study aimed to investigate the effects of marine red yeast (MRY) on growth performance, digestive enzyme activities, serum biochemistry, antioxidant capacity, immunological indices, and expression immune-related genes in white-spotted conger ( Conger myriaster ). Four diets were supplemented with varying levels MRY (0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, designated as MRY0, MRY0.5, MRY1, MRY1.5, respectively). Fish (average weight, 46.27 g) divided into 12 net cages, 3 cages per diet. The fish fed twice daily for 56 days. Results indicated that dietary supplementation had no significant activities P >0.05). MRY1 MRY1.5 lower alanine aminotransferase (ALT) content than MRY0 MRY0.5 groups <0.05). Serum glucose (GLU) showed an increasing trend levels, group highest value (P<0.05), while cholesterol (TC) triglyceride (TG) exhibited opposite trend, fish-fed diet lowest values significantly higher hepatic glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity those Hepatic total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) alkaline phosphatase (ALP) increased increase level relative heat shock protein 70 HSP70 ) liver <0.05), difference was found HSP90 among all In conclusion, 1%–1.5% could be applied a feed additive effectively enhance immune response conger.
