Introduction Article 5.3 of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, elaborated via its implementation guidelines, can be understood as a policy instrument comprising norms, rules and tools designed to shape practices making minimise tobacco industry interference. Methods This qualitative research is based in-depth interviews with officials from diverse government sectors non-governmental organisations across countries (Ethiopia, India, Uganda) that have adopted measures implement 5.3. Results The data highlight varied perceptions knowledge norms between health non-health sectors. Health typically link core norm fundamental conflict public interests governance protecting policies While in beyond broadly endorsed this norm, they exhibited more limited awareness model governance. results examine how been codified, but identify absence necessary operationalise norms. limitation, alongside restricted departments, suggests political commitments will impact stakeholder consultation engagement industry. Tackling climate change requires significant behavior to reduce emissions, yet the scale required is far from being achieved. Behaviors are influenced by psychological characteristics, social and cultural norms, material spatial environments, political conventions. Much scientific debate continues be characterized calls for either individual or system change, but a more cross-cutting perspective understand various factors that can enable accelerate pro-environmental choices needed. This review provides an interdisciplinary synthesis of evidence on potential limitations choice mitigate change. We identify six domains action (food, energy, transport, shopping, influence, citizenship). find individual, social, physical, combine shape low-carbon in ways specific each domain, demanding different responses policy-makers. Effective mix interventions which address multiple roles played individuals: structural governments ("upstream" interventions), businesses local authorities making sustainable options available attractive ("midstream"), informational measures individuals' decision-making ("downstream").

Achieving carbon neutrality is seen as an important goal in order to mitigate the effects of climate change, dioxide a major greenhouse gas that contributes global warming. Many countries, cities and organizations have set targets become neutral. The pharmaceutical sector no exception, being contributor emissions (emitting approximately 55% more than automotive for instance) hence need strategies reduce its environmental impact. Three-dimensional (3D) printing advanced fabrication technology has potential replace traditional manufacturing tools. Being new technology, impact 3D printed medicines not been investigated, which barrier uptake by industry. Here, energy consumption (and emission) printers considered, focusing on technologies successfully demonstrated produce solid dosage forms. 6 benchtop was measured during standby mode printing. On standby, ranged from 0.03 0.17 kWh. required producing 10 printlets 0.06 3.08 kWh, with using high temperatures consuming energy. Carbon between 11.60 112.16 g CO2 (eq) per printlets, comparable tableting. Further analyses revealed decreasing temperature found demand considerably, suggesting developing formulations are printable at lower can emissions. study delivers key initial insights into potentially transformative provides encouraging results demonstrating deliver quality without environmentally detrimental.

This research investigates the application of machine learning models to optimise renewable energy systems and contribute achieving Net Zero emissions targets. The primary objective is evaluate how can improve forecasting, grid management, storage optimisation, thereby enhancing reliability efficiency sources. methodology involved various models, including Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Random Forest, Support Vector Machines (SVMs), ARIMA, predict generation demand patterns. These were evaluated using metrics such as Mean Absolute Error (MAE) Root Squared (RMSE). Key findings include a 15% improvement in after optimisation 10–20% increase battery efficiency. Forest achieved lowest MAE, reducing prediction error by approximately 8.5%. study quantified CO2 emission reductions source, with wind power accounting for 15,000-ton annual reduction, followed hydropower solar 10,000 7500 tons, respectively. concludes that significantly enhance system performance, measurable errors emissions. improvements could help close “ambition gap” 20%, supporting global efforts meet 1.5 °C Paris Agreement

Climate change is an ongoing and escalating health emergency. It threatens the wellbeing of billions people, through extreme weather events, displacement, food insecurity, pathogenic diseases, societal destabilisation, armed conflict. dwarfs all other challenges studied by psychologists. The greenhouse gas emissions driving climate disproportionately originate from actions wealthy populations in Global North are tied to excessive energy use overconsumption driven pursuit economic growth. Addressing this crisis requires significant transformations individual behaviour change. Most these changes will benefit not only stability but yield public co-benefits. Because their unique expertise skills, psychologists urgently needed crafting mitigation responses. We propose specific ways which at career stages can contribute, within spheres research, teaching, policy making, organisations as private citizens. As psychologists, we cannot sit back leave scientists. a emergency that results human behaviour; hence it our power responsibility address it.

Current technological improvements are yet to put the world on track net-zero, which will require uptake of transformative low-carbon innovations supplement mitigation efforts. However, role such is not fully understood; some these 'miracles' considered indispensable Paris Agreement-compliant mitigation, but their limitations, availability, and potential remain a source debate. We evaluate potentially game-changing from experts' perspective, aiming support design realistic decarbonisation scenarios better-informed net-zero policy strategies. In worldwide survey, 260 climate energy experts assessed against potential, at-scale availability and/or widescale adoption, risk delayed diffusion. Hierarchical clustering multi-criteria decision-making revealed differences in perceptions core innovations, with next-generation storage, alternative building materials, iron-ore electrolysis, hydrogen steelmaking emerging as top priorities. Instead, technologies highly represented well-below-2°C seemingly feature considerable impactful delays, hinting at need re-evaluate future pathways. Experts' assessments appear converge more other disruptive including lifestyle shifts economic models, indicating importance non-technological demand-side innovations. To provide insights for expert elicitation processes, we finally note caveats related level representativeness among engaged experts, expertise that may have varied across examined subjective interpretation employed linguistic scales be prone to.
