BACKGROUND Childhood obesity constitutes a significant public health issue worldwide. Slough, region in the United Kingdom, harbours some of most socioeconomically deprived areas, resulting disproportionately higher prevalence overweight and obesity. Notably, only 20% residents report being active. This study investigated demographics outcomes Children Young People (CYP) families from Slough who self-referred to precision digital tool designed manage CYP’s weight. OBJECTIVE The focuses on pilot programme an evidence-informed CYP lifestyle weight management service for children aged 5-12 years. It first aims understand clinical characteristics diverse area with varying levels deprivation. Subsequently, assesses effectiveness acceptability this program reducing body BMI among its participants. METHODS Employing single-arm intervention design, parents/guardians identified as obese were introduced (Gro Health CYP). stimulates manageable behavioural changes by offering evidence-based education, endorsing change activities, arranging weekly virtual meetups, providing community support, tracking progress, generating data-driven insights. Comparison participants received email communication requesting data. Participant data captured at baseline re-evaluated 12- 26-week intervals. RESULTS One-hundred sixty-seven downloaded Gro app created account. average age involved was 9.5 years, 21.2 kg/m2, 42% female 71% identifying having white ethnicity. Seventy-five per cent (125/167) participating reported reduced 26 weeks loss 3.4 ± 3% that completed intervention. CONCLUSIONS app, tailored deliver Children’s Person’s Weight Management Programme favourably children. demonstrated potential promote clinically relevant loss, underscoring importance innovative solutions addressing crisis childhood

Long-term air pollution exposure is a major health concern, yet its associations with thyroid dysfunction (hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism) biological aging remain unclear. We aimed to determine the association of long-term investigate potential roles aging. A prospective cohort study was conducted on 432,340 participants available data pollutants including particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10, PM2.5-10), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), nitric oxide (NO) from UK Biobank. An score calculated using principal component analysis reflect joint these pollutants. Biological assessed Klemera-Doubal method age phenotypic algorithms. The individual were estimated Cox proportional hazards regression model. explored interaction mediation analyses. During median follow-up 12.41 years, 1,721 (0.40 %) 9,296 (2.15 developed hyperthyroidism hypothyroidism, respectively. All observed be significantly associated an increased risk incident while PM2.5, NO2 hyperthyroidism. hazard ratios (HRs) for hypothyroidism 1.15 (95 % confidence interval: 1.00–1.32) (1.08–1.22) individuals in highest quartile compared those lowest score, Additionally, we noticed that higher pollutant levels biologically older generally had dysfunction. Moreover, accelerated partially mediated 1.9 %–9.4 pollution-associated Despite possible underestimation dysfunction, may increase particularly participants, potentially involved mechanisms.

Abstract The rapid advancement of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) has introduced a transformative approach to energy harvesting and self‐powered sensing in recent years. Nonetheless, the untapped potential TENGs practical scenarios necessitates multiple strategies like material selections structure designs enhance their output performance. Given various superior properties, MXenes, kind novel 2D materials, have demonstrated great promise enhancing TENG functionality. Here, this review comprehensively delineates advantages incorporating MXenes into TENGs, majoring six pivotal aspects. First, an overview is provided, stating theoretical foundations, working modes, considerations, prevailing challenges. Additionally, structural characteristics, fabrication methodologies, family charting developmental trajectory are highlighted. selection as functional layers (negative positive layer, electrode layer) while designing briefed. Furthermore, distinctive MXene‐based applications emphasized. Last, existing challenges highlighted, future developing directions forecasted.
