Abstract Emerging evidence suggests that the vagus nerve can modulate immune system in experimental settings. Vagus stimulation (VNS), initially developed for managing epilepsy, is now being explored as a treatment autoimmune diseases due to its potential immunomodulatory effects. This systematic review evaluates therapeutic of VNS by critically appraising findings from human clinical studies. was conducted accordance with PRISMA guideline, comprehensive literature search performed Ovid, Cochrane, and PubMed databases up July 2024. Studies focusing on patients were eligible, quality study assessed using QualSyst tool. Of 53 papers identified full‐text assessment, 19 studies met eligibility criteria. Findings suggest promising adjunctive therapy Crohn's disease rheumatoid arthritis, showing alleviate symptoms responses. The efficacy safety vary widely across studies, highlighting complex nature diverse mechanisms action. Future research should prioritize large‐scale, randomized controlled trials standardized protocols further elucidate efficacy, long‐term safety, optimal parameters various conditions.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a connective tissue disease with heterogeneous presentation. Gastrointestinal (GI) complications of SSc are characterized by esophageal reflux, abnormal motility, and microbiome dysbiosis, which impact patient quality life mortality. Preventative therapeutics lacking, management primarily aimed at symptomatic control.

Abstract Introduction Transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) has shown potential in neurological, autoimmune, and cardiovascular disorders, but its effects on HD patients remain unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy safety of tVNS patients. Methods We conducted a randomized controlled clinical trial receiving ≥6 months. The group received for 1 h during first 2 sessions, three times weekly 8 weeks, while control standard care. primary outcomes were dialysis efficiency (Single‐pool Kt/V, Sp Kt/V) dialysis‐related symptoms (Dialysis Symptom Index, DSI), assessed every 4 weeks. Secondary included pain fatigue scores, physical performance, Hemodialysis Comfort Scale, hemoglobin levels, Mini‐Mental State Examination, anxiety depression measured at baseline weeks after intervention. Results A total 63 enrolled study, with 32 assigned 31 group. At showed significant improvements Kt/V (1.31 ± 0.11 vs. 1.25 0.10, p = 0.02), DSI (12.09 5.84 16.26 5.27, 0.004), as well reductions fatigue, increases function, comfort, hemoglobin. However, there no statistically changes observed cognitive anxiety, or depression. Conclusions could improve efficiency, symptoms, function patients, indicating it may have role complementary therapy.

Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) predominantly experience mortality due to cardiovascular diseases (CVD), particularly in low- and middle-income nations. Among these, heart failure (HF) is the most severe complication terms of prognosis management. Despite advancements individualized glycemic control risk management, including development novel glucose- lipid-lowering agents, prevalence HF T2DM patients remains persistently high. This indicates that factors beyond hyperglycemia significantly contribute heightened associated T2DM. review examines critical influencing CVD T2DM, roles reduced rate variability (HRV), a marker autonomic dysfunction, chronic inflammation, both which play pivotal pathogenesis. Recent evidence highlights potential vagus nerve activation modulate these factors, underscoring its capacity reduce T2DM-related complications. Specifically, we discuss therapeutic promise transcutaneous auricular stimulation (taVNS) as non-invasive intervention enhance vagal tone, decrease systemic improve outcomes By addressing interplay among HRV, microvascular disease, this provides comprehensive perspective on utility taVNS managing

Non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) represents a transformative approach for managing broad spectrum of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis bowel disease. This comprehensive review delineates the mechanisms underlying VNS, emphasizing cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway, explores interactions within neuro-immune vagus-gut axes based on both clinical outcomes pre-clinical models. Clinical applications have confirmed efficacy VNS in specific diseases, such as arthritis, chronic conditions like disease, showcasing variability parameters patient responses. Concurrently, studies provided insights into potential modulating cardiovascular broader responses, paving way its translational application settings. Innovations non-invasive technology precision neuromodulation are enhancing therapeutic potential, making it viable option patients who unresponsive to conventional treatments. Nonetheless, widespread adoption this promising therapy is impeded by regulatory challenges, compliance issues, need extensive long-term safety. Future research directions will focus refining technology, optimizing treatment parameters, exploring synergistic effects with other modalities, which could revolutionize management disorders.
