Abstract
Background
Both
learning
and
problem
solving
are
major
goals
of
complex
in
engineering
education.
The
order
knowledge
construction
through
solving,
however,
has
not
been
explained

literature.
Objectives
To
understand
their
relationships,
this
study
compared
the
effects
different
goal
type
orders
on
collaborative
simulation‐based
inquiry
solving.
Methods
In
study,
24
undergraduate
students
worked
pairs
to
solve
a
wind
tunnel
using
computer
simulation
application.
Process
mining
epistemic
network
analysis
were
used
model
process
identify
patterns
based
log
data
discussion
discourse.
Results
Conclusions
results
showed
first
assigned
subtask
influenced
strategies
medium‐performance
learners
most.

study
aimed
to
explore
effect
