Abstract Flavan‐3‐ols (FL) are poorly bioavailable astringent polyphenols that induce hyperactivation of the sympathetic nervous system. The aim this study was to investigate effects repeated oral administration FL on mice hindlimb skeletal muscle using immunohistochemical techniques. C57BL/6J male were orally administered 50 mg/kg for a period 2 weeks, and bromideoxyuridine (BrdU) intraperitoneally 3 days prior dissection. soleus extensor digitorum longus (EDL) excised prepared frozen sections. Myosin heavy chain (MHC) antibodies used classify types, in addition, cross‐sectional areas (CSA) measured. We observed shift peak CSA larger extent EDL. In distinct toward fast detected, documented by reduction type I an increase IIb muscle, whereas EDL, we decline IIa expansion IIb. Incorporation BrdU into cells significantly increased all muscles, with significant co‐expressing pair box 7 (Pax7), marker differentiation, as Given evidence β2‐adrenergic receptors muscles regulate differentiation size, measured plasma catecholamine (CA) concentrations following single FL. A dose CA. These findings indicate catecholamines secreted bloodstream from adrenal gland may influence size via β2‐receptors.

Flavonoids are naturally occurring dietary phytochemicals with significant antioxidant effects aside from several health benefits. People often consume them in combination other food components. Compiling data establishes a link between bioactive flavonoids and prevention of diseases animal models, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, gut dysbiosis, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). However, numerous clinical studies have demonstrated the ineffectiveness contradicting rodent thereby challenging validity using as supplements. This review provides perspective to emphasize effective roles well summarize their specific mechanisms animals briefly. First, this offers an in-depth elucidation processes within human, encompassing small, large intestine, liver. Furthermore, comprehensive overview various functions gastrointestinal tract, hindering breakdown assimilation macronutrients, such polysaccharides lipids, regulating hormone secretion inhibition mineral iron absorption. In unabsorbed major portion interact flora leading biotransformation. Once absorbed circulated bloodstream, or metabolites exert beneficial systemic effects. Lastly, we examine protective disorders, endothelial dysfunction, MASLD, disease, obesity, hyperlipidemia, insulin resistance. conclusion, outlines safety future prospects field health, especially syndrome (MetS).

A rise in noncommunicable disease (NCD) prevalence has been partly attributed to the low intake of food groups rich phytochemicals, particularly fruits and vegetables. For this reason, microvegetables (MV) are an emerging functional group. Nutrient‐dense with bioactive compounds, MV exhibit properties that may be relevant for NCD malnutrition risk modulation. No chronic supplementation human clinical trials have conducted. However, experimental vitro vivo studies shown can exert a range beneficial effects. In systematic review, we analysed effects such investigations discussed potential mechanisms involved. bibliographical search was performed PubMed Scopus, based on inclusion criteria, 28 articles were summarised critically discussed. Twelve demonstrated direct antioxidant capabilities MVs via assays. Few investigated more physiologically impact endogenous cellular systems. proapoptotic activity immortalised cell lines, limited evidence indicating anti‐inflammatory, lipid gut microbiota‐modifying These warrant further investigation evaluate their translational potential, our summary literature offers rationale basis trials.

Currently, natural bioactive ingredients and/or raw materials are of significant interest to scientists around the world. Flavonoids and other polyphenols a major group phytochemicals that have been researched noted as molecules. They offer several pharmacological medical benefits. This current review aims (1) illustrate their benefits for human health, such antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, UV-protective effects, also (2) perform quality evaluation traditional medicines future application. Consequently, keywords were searched on Scopus, Google Scholar, PubMed so search related publications. Then, those publications carefully checked in order find non-redundant studies matched objective this review. According review, researchers worldwide very interested discovering potential flavonoids polyphenols, used taken from medicinal plants, relation pharmaceutical applications. Many focus health tested using silico, vitro, vivo models. However, few carried out clinical trials trustworthy subject sizes accordance with practice guidelines. The biodiversity of Brazil provides an excellent climate and favorable pollination conditions for Apis mellifera L., especially in the Eastern Amazon region, which boasts vast floral wealth, including abundance açaí (Euterpe oleracea) flowers fruits. In present study, seven types honey were evaluated: three containing nectar from (Açaí honey) collected region Breu Branco (AH1 AH2) Açaí Santa Maria (AH3), both state Pará, Brazil) four honeys different regions (Aroeira Minas Gerais, Cipó-Uva Distrito Federal, Mangue Timbó Rio Grande do Sul). characteristics these evaluated by examining their physicochemical properties, melissopalynological aspects, color, antioxidant potential, constituent compounds, confirmed through GC-MS analysis. presented results similar to those other honeys, aligning with Brazilian legislation norms, but differed high values free acidity, apparent sugars, lower reducing are directly related botanical origin. These differences correlate unique flavor distinct aroma characteristics. Melissopalynological analysis origin nectar, had a color range amber dark amber. demonstrated capacity superior flavonoid polyphenol content compared particularly (AH1), times combat radicals highest potential honey). presence properties as well anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antitumor capabilities have not yet been fully studied.

ABSTRACT In this study, we describe the effect of cocoa polyphenol extract (CPE, from flavanols‐rich cocoa) on myogenic differentiation in murine myoblasts (C2C12 cells) exposed to H 2 O . The program was monitored using morphological, ultrastructural, and molecular approaches. Treatment with 100 μM for 1 h decreased cell viability. C2C12 (D1) shows more apoptotic necrotic cells, mitochondria appear emptied, cristae heavily damaged. To evaluate CPE myoblast viability myotube formation, 10 μg/mL were added 24 prior treatment cells supplemented fresh every during differentiation. Supplementation protected ‐induced oxidative damage both at early late (D6) phases differentiation, preventing death mitochondrial damage. number (per area surface) increased 2‐fold control CPE‐supplemented myotubes D6 showed a greater extension than D1. At D1 monolayers surface inner features relatively comparable untreated suggesting that supplementation significantly mitigated Preliminary data obtained by index (Giemsa staining) suggested partially myogenesis inhibition. seems preserve integrity ability oxidatively injured ensuing further nutraceutical perspectives.
