Background Depression is a nontraditional risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Data on the association of depression and poor mental health with CVD suboptimal (CVH) among young adults are limited. Methods Results We used data from 593 616 (aged 18–49 years) 2017 to 2020 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, nationally representative survey noninstitutionalized US adults. Exposures were self‐reported days (PMHDs; categorized as 0, 1–13, 14–30 in past 30 days). Outcomes (composite myocardial infarction, angina, or stroke) CVH (≥2 factors: hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, overweight/obesity, smoking, diabetes, physical inactivity, inadequate fruit vegetable intake). Using logistic regression, we investigated PMHDs CVH, adjusting sociodemographic factors (and outcome). Of participants (mean age, 34.7±9.0 years), weighted prevalence was 19.6% (95% CI, 19.4–19.8), 2.5% 2.4–2.6). People had higher odds than those without (odds ratio [OR], 2.32 [95% 2.13–2.51]). There graded CVD. Compared individuals 0 PMHDs, 1 13 14 PHMDs 1.48 1.34–1.62) 2.29 2.08–2.51), respectively, after factors. The associations did not differ significantly by sex urban/rural status. Individuals (OR, 1.79 1.65–1.95]) compared depression, similar relationship between CVH. Conclusions associated premature Although this likely bidirectional, prioritizing may help reduce improve

Anxiety and depression are psychiatric disorders that often coexist share some features. Developing a simple cost-effective tool to assess anxiety in the Arabic-speaking population, predominantly residing low- middle-income nations where research can be arduous, would immensely beneficial. The study aimed translate four-item composite Patient Health Questionnaire – 4 (PHQ-4) into Arabic evaluate its psychometric properties, including internal reliability, sex invariance, correlation with measures of psychological distress. 587 adults were recruited between February March 2023. An anonymous self-administered Google Forms link was distributed via social media networks. We utilized FACTOR software explore factor structure PHQ-4. Confirmatory analysis (CFA) indicated fit two-factor model PHQ-4 scores modest (χ2/df = .13/1 .13, RMSEA .001, SRMR .002, CFI 1.005, TLI 1.000). Internal reliability excellent (McDonald's omega .86; Cronbach's alpha .86). Indices suggested configural, metric, scalar invariance supported across sex. No significant difference found males females terms total scores, scores. score significantly moderately-to-strongly associated lower wellbeing higher Depression Stress Scale (DASS) subscales proves reliable, valid, for assessing symptoms related anxiety. To practical effectiveness further enhance data on construct validity, future studies should measure diverse contexts among specific populations.

Purpose: Modifiable health factors influence racial disparities in cardiovascular (CVH), yet the role of psychological these remains understudied. This study examines (1) association between negative and positive measures CVH (2) differences associations among US adults. Methods: Aim 1 included adults aged 34–84 from MIDUS biomarker substudy (n = 1255). 2 28–84 parent (N 4702). Our outcome was CVH, operationalized as AHA’s Life’s Essential 8 (LE8) total score, behavior, factor subscores. Negative depressive symptoms (CES-D), stress reactivity (from Multidimensional Personality Questionnaire [MPS]), aggression MPS), pessimism (Life Orientation Test), perceived (Perceived Stress Scale), trait anxiety (Spielberger Trait Anxiety Inventory); well-being (“PWB”; Ryff Well-Being Scale [WBS] purpose life WBS), mindfulness (developed by MIDUS), gratitude optimism Test). Results: In covariate-adjusted models, most were negatively associated with LE8 scores behavior Of those, only to demonstrate Black–White (Black > White, p < 0.001). Positive less consistently total, subscores models. these, PWB 0.001), 0.001) demonstrated significant race. Conclusions: are not largely explained health.

Abstract Background Cardiometabolic disorders among childbearing women, particularly Black American contribute to adverse perinatal outcomes and long-term health consequences. Lifestyle interventions are critical approaches improve cardiometabolic health. Objective This integrative review synthesized evidence on lifestyle promoting women of age in the U.S. Methods A comprehensive search strategy was developed applied across PubMed, CINAHL, Web Science Core Collection, Scopus from databases’ inception through August 2023. Key inclusion criteria were age, using an experimental/quasi-experimental design conducted U.S., cardiometabolic, behavior, or psychosocial outcomes. Results Thirty-three studies included, with 29 (87%) randomized controlled trials. primarily implemented during pregnancy and/or postpartum periods, only two pre-pregnancy stage. Health education (i.e. structured/unstructured teaching various content) main intervention component. While many incorporated digital technologies, six leveraged mhealth tools (e.g., mobile applications, internet-based platforms, social media) as primary delivery method. Weight change most common outcome, five out 13 showing significant reductions gestational weight gain retention. Of seven measuring other blood glucose), one showed a significantly decreased incidence hypertension. Three 11 reported increase physical activity, four ten improvement dietary behaviors. Nine 15 found improvement, noting depression. Common weaknesses included recruitment challenges, convenience sampling, small sample sizes, high attrition rates, short post-intervention follow-up. Some adopting technologies better retention rates higher engagement. Conclusions The results suggest potential impact reduction, increased healthier behaviors, Future high-quality powered needed investigate efficacy this population by considering use recruitment, engagement retention, including representing all socioeconomic levels, targeting

Abstract Adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs) affect approximately 20% pregnant women, and their incidence is increasing. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect cardiovascular health (CVH) during on APOs. We analyzed data from 14,930 women in Tohoku Medical Megabank Project Birth Three-Generation Cohort Study. CVH status assessed using eight components Life’s Essential 8. APOs were defined as composite encompassing preeclampsia, gestational diabetes mellitus, preterm birth, small for age. numbers participants with high, moderate, low 2891 (19.4%), 11,498 (77.0%), 541 (3.6%), respectively. Poisson regression analyses robust error variance, which adjusted maternal age at conception, alcohol consumption, conception via vitro fertilization, parity, psychological distress, social isolation, household income, showed a positive association between moderate levels (risk ratio 95% confidence interval 1.15 [1.03–1.28] 2.14 [1.78–2.58], respectively). Among CVH, those who reported isolation had higher prevalence than did without (36.4% vs. 27.4%). This difference attenuated high (13.6% 13.1%). In conclusion, may be useful assessing risk Socially isolated are more vulnerable effects status.

Objectives: Cardiovascular diseases and depression are frequently seen together. Despite the developments in treatment efficacy of agomelatine, a widely used antidepressant, its safety profile on cardiac tissue has not been sufficiently investigated. The aim this study was to evaluate effects agomelatine contraction rat myocardial anxiety conditions encountered cardiovascular after surgery. Methods: Myocardial sections were removed from 12 male Wistar Albino rats divided into control groups. tissues placed isolated organ bath system. Maximum achieved by applying 10-1 M adrenaline both When plateaued, same volume vehicle as applied Control group. Agomelatine cumulative doses (10-8 – 10-4 M) resulting isometric forces recorded statistical analyses performed with R 4.3.1 program. Results: A significant increase tension observed In group, at 10-8 dose significantly lower compared (P<0.05), 10-6 10-7 (P<0.05). Conclusions: produced dose-dependent suppressed contractile response tissue. This suggests that it may have positive increased blood pressure, inotropic effect hypertensive state, which can occur also common depression. more favorable side than other antidepressants disease states.
