Impact of socioeconomic and political stressors on mental health: a cross-sectional study on university students in Lebanon

A
cross-sectional
study
was
conducted
investigating
the
association
between
exposure
to
financial,
political,
academic
and
social
stressors,
symptoms
of
depression,
anxiety
burnout
among
university
students
in
Lebanon.
Lebanon
is
a
developing
country
experiencing
financial
crisis
sociopolitical
turmoil
with
poorly
characterized
impacts
on
mental
health
residents.
To
assess
anxiety,
condensed
version
Malach-Pines
Burnout
Measure
Patient
Health
Questionnaire-4
(PHQ-4)
were
used,
respectively.
Out
240
respondents,
52.3%
experienced
burnout,
29.3%
high/very
high
54.2%
reported
anxiety.
Women
had
poorer
outcomes.
The
strongest
associations

Abstract
Background.
Despite
the
many
vulnerabilities
faced
by
female
sex
workers
(FSWs),
few
studies
have
investigated
mental
health
in
this
population,
especially
West
Africa.
This
study
aimed
to
determine
frequency
of
psychological
distress
and
identify
associated
factors
among
FSWs
included
a
sexual
reproductive
cohort
Côte
d’Ivoire.
Methods.
The
ANRS
12381
PRINCESSE
project
(2019-2023)
was
single-arm
interventional
≥18
years
San
Pedro,
d’Ivoire,
evaluating
comprehensive
community-based
care
offer
through
mobile
clinics

on
work
