Positive relationships between the home literacy environment and children's language development are well-established. However, existing literature has overlooked potential contributions of music environment. Initial evidence indicates positive emerging skills, yet it remains unclear whether how environments may be related. Furthermore, parents' sense self-efficacy is known to impact provided for their children. Despite being linked with environment, parental not been directly investigated in relation In present study, 124 caregivers preschoolers completed a one-time online survey about self-efficacy. Partial correlations hierarchical regressions reveal that amount exposure associated qualitative (not quantitative) aspects specifically use interactive techniques during shared reading. Moreover, music. Overall, these findings support need further examine meaningfully contribute an enriching learning especially development.

Recently reported links between rhythm and grammar processing have opened new perspectives for using in clinical interventions children with developmental language disorder (DLD). Previous research the rhythmic priming paradigm has shown improved performance on tasks after regular primes compared to control conditions. However, this been limited effects of grammaticality judgments. The current study investigated whether could also benefit sentence repetition, a task requiring proficiency complex syntax-an area difficultly DLD. Regular repetition irregular DLD typical development-an effect that did not occur non-linguistic task. These findings suggest overlap musical linguistic syntax, implications use stimulation treatment practice.

Based on the idea that neural entrainment establishes regular attentional fluctuations facilitate hierarchical processing in both music and language, we hypothesized individual differences syntactic (grammatical) skills will be partly explained by patterns of responses to musical rhythm. To test this hypothesis, recorded activity using electroencephalography (EEG) while children (N = 25) listened passively rhythmic induced different beat percepts. Analysis evoked beta gamma revealed magnitude rhythm variance six-year-olds' expressive grammar abilities, beyond complementarily their performance a behavioral perception task. These results reinforce mechanisms may shared resource supporting across language suggest relevant marker relationship between abilities elementary-school-age children, previously observed only behaviorally.

Abstract Rhythm and language-related traits are phenotypically correlated, but their genetic overlap is largely unknown. Here, we leveraged two large-scale genome-wide association studies performed to shed light on the shared genetics of rhythm (N=606,825) dyslexia (N=1,138,870). Our results reveal an intricate neurobiological architecture, lay groundwork for resolving longstanding debates about potential co-evolution human language musical traits.

One of the most complex and challenging developments at beginning third millennium is alarming increase in demographic aging, mainly—but not exclusively—affecting developed countries. This reality results one harsh medical, social, economic consequences: continuously increasing number people with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), which accounts for up to 80% all such types pathology. Its large progressive disabling potential, eventually leads death, therefore represents an important public health matter, especially because there no known cure this disease. Consequently, periodic reappraisals different therapeutic possibilities are necessary. For purpose, we conducted systematic literature review investigating nonpharmacological interventions AD, their currently cellular molecular action bases. endeavor was based on PRISMA method, by selected 116 eligible articles published during last year. Impaired musical rhythm abilities and developmental speech-language related disorders are biologically clinically intertwined. Prior work examining their relationship has primarily used small samples; here, we studied associations at population-scale by conducting the largest systematic epidemiological investigation to date (total N = 39,092). Based on existing theoretical frameworks, predicted that impairment would be a significant risk factor for in general adult population. Findings were consistent across multiple independent datasets subskills (including beat synchronization discrimination), aggregate meta-analyzed data showed is modest but speech, language, reading (OR 1.32 [1.14 – 1.49]; p < .0001). Further, cross-trait polygenic score analyses indicate shared genetic architecture between abilities, providing evidence pleiotropy language-related phenotypes.

Language aptitude has recently regained interest in cognitive neuroscience. Traditional language testing included phonemic coding ability, associative memory, grammatical sensitivity and inductive learning. Moreover, domain-general abilities are associated with individual differences aptitude, together factors that have yet to be elucidated.
