By taking attention as a starting-point, she show that is – rather than only scare resource analysts departing perspective economy would have it foundational for our moral relations other beings. She argues there distinctive form other-oriented enables us perceive beings living are worthy care. This mode presupposes affectivity and involves recognition being capable forming judgments, well someone having certain vulnerabilities. Her analysis shows by prioritizing homogenous interactions standardization, media platforms hinder engaging in this attention, thereby undermining capacity recognizing others surprising, changing, fallible

Scholarly discourse on "disruptive technologies" has been strongly influenced by disruptive innovation theory. This theory is tailored for analyzing disruptions in markets and business. It of limited use, however, the broader social, moral existential dynamics technosocial disruption. Yet these should be great scholarly concern, both coming to terms with technological past those our current age. Technologies can disrupt social relations, institutions, epistemic paradigms, foundational concepts, values, even nature human cognition experience – domains disruption that are largely neglected existing technologies. Accordingly, this paper seeks reorient discussion around a notion raises three questions. First, how conceptualized way clearly sets it apart from framework? Secondly, does relate concordant notions "disruptor" "disruptiveness"? Thirdly, we advance criteria assess "degree disruptiveness" different technologies? The clarifies questions proposes an answer each them. In doing so, advances "technosocial disruption" as key analysandum future scholarship interactions between technology society.

Modern technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, geo-engineering, social media, or next-generation genomics have been and will continue to be socially (culturally, economically, legally, etc.) disruptive. Several philosophers of technology noted that is not only but also conceptually Technologies do change the way we live together. They challenge conceptualize classify ourselves world around us. However, it clear what means for disrupt our concepts, as very idea conceptual disruption its relation remain opaque. In can concepts how overcome such disruptions? This paper proposes a framework studying technology-induced disruptions draws both on mediation theory recent work engineering.

Abstract Conceptual Engineering (CE) is thought to be generally aimed at ameliorating deficient concepts. In this paper, we challenge assumption: argue that CE frequently undertaken with the orthogonal aim of conceptual adaptation . We develop thesis reference interplay between technology and Emerging technologies can exert significant pressure on systems spark ‘conceptual disruption’. For example, advances in Artificial Intelligence raise question whether AIs are agents or mere objects, which construed as a regarding concepts AGENT OBJECT. distinguish three types disruption (conceptual gaps, overlaps, misalignments) when occurs address these disruptions, its primary not improve concepts, but retain their functional quality, prevent them from degrading. This characteristic philosophy technology: preserve role concept scheme, rather than improving how fulfills respective function.

Abstract With robots increasingly integrated into various areas of life, the question relationships with them is gaining prominence. Are friendship and partnership possible? While there already extensive research on robots, this article critically examines whether relationship non-human entities sufficiently explored a deeper level, especially in terms ethical concepts such as autonomy, agency, responsibility. In robot ethics, considerations often presuppose properties consciousness, sentience, intelligence, which are exclusively aligned humans. I will challenge understanding these by anchoring contexts, bodies, actions. This approach allows to consider specific ways being human identify well. My “eco-relational” posits that it crucial relationality animals technology central from beginning. reflects “eco”, entire house we live including robots. To support this, examine two dominant approaches ethics within contemporary Western tradition: “properties approach” modestly relational approaches. develop an eco-relational alternative. Employing phenomenological method, demonstrate through examples our actions inherently connected entities. show play role actions, leading hybrid agency. It becomes clear disrupt traditional concepts.

Abstract Considerable progress is being made in robotics, with robots developed for many different areas of life: there are service robots, industrial transport medical household sex exploration military and more. As robot development advances, an intriguing question arises: should also encompass religious functions? Religious could be used practices, education, discussions, ceremonies within buildings. This article delves into two pivotal questions, combining perspectives from philosophy studies: can have Section 2 initiates the discourse by introducing discussing relationship between religion. The core (developed Sects. 3 4) scrutinizes fundamental questions: possess functions, they? After exhaustive discussion arguments, benefits, potential objections regarding Sect. 5 addresses lingering ethical challenges that demand attention. 6 presents a findings, outlines limitations this study, ultimately responds to dual research question.
