Abstract Although financial stressors are implicated as risk factors for suicidal behavior, these associations might be confounded by other factors. Furthermore, a move toward high-risk subgroup definition is necessary. The authors used Swedish national registry data to examine the between receipt of social welfare, unemployment benefits, or early retirement ( N = 627,745−2,260,753) with behavior in Cox proportional hazards models. They applied co-relative models improve causal inference, and examined interactions aggregate genetic suicidality. All three exposures were associated elevated risk. Initial hazard ratios suicide attempt ranged from 1.37−3.86, similar death, declined after controlling psychopathology time elapsed exposure. Age at registration differentially impacted behavior. Aggregate liability suicidality was risk, but its effect not moderated stress. Financial even psychopathology. Associations attributable part familial confounding, though potentially pathway observed most cases. Suicidality varied function sex age exposure; findings could identify subgroups high who warrant targeted prevention.

Introduction: Research has identified multiple risk factors associated with suicide attempt (SA) among individuals psychiatric illness. However, there is limited research those an alcohol use disorder (AUD), despite their disproportionately higher rates of SA. Methods: We examined lifetime SA in 4,068 AUD from the Collaborative Study on Genetics Alcoholism (23% SA; 53% female; mean age: 38). explored for across other clinical conditions ascertained a interview, polygenic scores comorbid problems, and neurocognitive functioning. Results: Participants who attempted had greater trauma exposure, major depressive disorder, post-traumatic stress substance disorders (SUDs), suicidal ideation. Polygenic SA, depression, PTSD were increased odds reporting (ORs = 1.22–1.44). reported also decreased right hemispheric frontal-parietal theta interhemispheric temporal-parietal alpha electroencephalogram resting-state coherences relative to did not, but differences small. Conclusions: Overall, report experience levels trauma, have more severe comorbidities, carry problems. Our results demonstrate need further investigate SAs presence SUDs.

Numerous studies highlight the genetic underpinnings of mental disorders comorbidity, particularly in anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia. However, their shared loci are not well understood. Our study employs Mendelian randomization (MR) colocalization analyses, alongside multi-omics data, to uncover potential targets for these conditions, thereby informing therapeutic drug development strategies.

Multiple lines of evidence indicate that altered dopamine signaling may be involved in neuropsychiatric disorders and common behavioral traits. Here we critically review collected during the past 40-plus years supporting role dysfunction attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). We recapitulate basic components dopaminergic central nervous system, focusing on core enzymes, transporters receptors monoaminergic functions, particularly striatal cortical regions. summarize key human brain imaging genetic studies reporting associations between neurotransmission traits, with an emphasis ADHD. also consider ADHD context animal models single gene, metabolic, neurological established system. Glycemic traits are critical indicators of maternal and fetal health during pregnancy. We performed genetic analysis for five glycemic in 14,744 Chinese pregnant women. Our genome-wide association study identified 25 locus-trait associations, including established links between gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) the genes CDKAL1 MTNR1B. Notably, we discovered a novel fasting glucose pregnancy ESR1 gene (estrogen receptor), which was validated by an independent The ESR1-GDM link recently reported FinnGen project. work enhances findings East Asian populations highlights need studies. Further analyses, correlation, Mendelian randomization, transcriptome-wide studies, provided insights into relationship hypertension. Overall, our advance understanding architecture traits, especially populations.

Background: Suicide remains a persistent global health challenge, resisting widespread prevention efforts. According to previous findings, toxoplasmosis is particularly associated with altered decision making, which could lead risk-taking behavior, thereby increasing the likelihood for suicidal behavior (SB). In addition, discussion about role of microbiome in psychiatric disorders has emerged lately, also makes it relevant investigate its context SB. Therefore, two systematic reviews are integrated this paper, and existing knowledge comprehensively summarized regarding association between microbial pathogens Methods: We conducted search keywords including SB Toxoplasma gondii (Suicid* AND Toxoplasm*) Microbiome Microbiota) throughout PubMed Scopus retrieve related studies up 9 November 2023, identifying 24 eligible records. The subjects included had have fulfilled criteria an disorder as defined by DSM-5, death cases needed been suicide. Results: Most reported significant SB, suggesting higher infected population. Regarding microbiome, only very few investigated alterations microbiome. Based on six studies, there were some indications link changes Conclusion: cognitive aspects making T. gondii-infected individuals should be further unravel underlying mechanisms.
