Medications with sedative or anticholinergic properties should be prescribed caution in those cognitive complaints. This is particularly relevant people ageing an intellectual disability (ID). Higher drug burden index (DBI) scores are associated increased frailty and falls reduced quality of life older risk adverse effects (daytime somnolence, constipation) ID. Introduction: Medication safety is a vital aim in older adults’ pharmacotherapy. Increased morbidity and vulnerability require particularly careful prescribing. Beneath avoiding unnecessary polypharmacy prescribing omissions, physicians have to be aware of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) related outcomes optimize drug therapy, reduce adverse events. Objective: The this study was identify participants characteristics associated with PIM use associations functional capacity focus on sex differences. Methods: Multivariable logistic regression analyses cross-sectional Berlin Aging Study II (BASE-II) data (N = 1,382, median age 69 years, interquartile range 67–71, 51.3% women) were performed classification according the EU(7)-PIM list. Results: In overall population, higher education lower odds (odds ratio [OR] 0.93, confidence interval [CI] 95% 0.87–0.99, p 0.017). Investigate the association between anticholinergic (AC) and sedative (SED) drug burden before hospitalization postdischarge institutionalization (PDI) in community-dwelling older patients acutely admitted to hospital.A cross-sectional study using data from Norwegian Patient Registry Prescription Database. We studied hospitalized ≥70 years during 2013 (N = 86 509). Patients geriatric wards underwent subgroup analyses (n 1715). calculated by Drug Burden Index (DBI), use of AC/SED drugs, number drugs. Piecewise linearity DBI versus PDI a knot point (DBI 2.45) was identified.
