This cross-sectional study investigates the prevalence and levels of internalized stigma (IS) among individuals suffering from mental illness in South Tamilnadu, India. Conducted between December 2021 March 2022, involved 310 participants diagnosed with for at least six months. Data were collected using Internalized Stigma Mental Illness (ISMI) Inventory a semi-structured questionnaire capturing socio-demographic details. Statistical analyses, including Pearson correlation, one-way ANOVA, post-hoc Tukey HSD tests, employed to determine relationship IS various factors. The findings reveal high IS, 64.83% scoring above 2.5 on ISMI scale. Key factors influencing include age, education, employment, marital status, economic duration illness, regular doctor consultation. Young adults, lower educational attainment, unemployed individuals, those longer exhibited higher levels. Notably, who regularly consulted doctors fewer hospital admissions reported highlights significant disparities underscoring need targeted anti-stigma programs. Background Despite initiatives to increase access mental health care and improve the quality of life for individuals living with illness, there is limited information on internalized stigma its impact these individuals. This study aimed determine prevalence internalised identify associated factors (sociodemographic, clinical, substance use) among people illness attending an outpatient clinic in Ethiopia. Method Institution-based cross-sectional was conducted patients at University Gondar Hospital clinic. We recruited 638 participants from using systematic random sampling interval three applied. Internalised measured nine-item (ISMI-9) Mental Illness Scale. Variables were coded entered into SPSS-28 software further analysis. To analyze data, we used descriptive multivariate logistic regression Adjusted odds ratio (AOR) 95% confidence (CI) p-value less than 0.05 considered significant. Results Prevalence 49.1% (95% CI: 45, 52). The following attributes a greater likelihood high stigma, no formal education (AOR=2.19, CI:1.33, 3.61); fair self-reported (AOR=3.12, CI:1.28, 7.59), poor (AOR= 9.11, 2.89, 28.73), suicidal ideation (AOR=1.95, CI:1.37, 2.79), alcohol users 1.89, CI:1.24,2.91), patient low self-esteem (AOR=1.55, CI:1.09, 2.21), drug adherence (AOR=2.2, CI:1.30,3.71), family history use 2.46, CI:1.54,3.93). Conclusions high. Therefore, anti-stigma activities, early support, information, reduction behaviors are all necessary reduce illnesses.

Abstract We conducted a household survey among 6061 adults in Lesotho to (1) assess the prevalence of moderate/severe mental health (MH) and substance use (SU) problems (2) describe MH SU service cascades, (3) predictors problem awareness (i.e., having MH/SU that requires treatment). Moderate/severe or was reported between 0.7% for anxiety past 2 weeks 36.4% alcohol 3 months. The treatment gaps were high both (62% gap; 82% gap) (89% 95% gap). International students in Japan face unique mental health challenges stemming from cultural and linguistic differences, potentially accentuated by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, research on of this demographic is scarce. This study aims to describe their status, awareness resources, attitudes toward seeking support. conducted analyses based data collected though an online survey at a national university during October November 2022. were surveyed about awareness, attitude. Descriptive statistics Chi-square tests employed examine associations between responses variables. Among 116 participants, 6.9% reported experiencing poor health, 16.4% rated as fair, 1.7% expressed uncertainly status. Similarly, 4.3% indicated physical 21.6% 0.9% uncertainty health. Additionally, felt that adversely affected daily life academics, 12.1% believed had similar negative impact. Awareness resources was notably low, with only 25.9% being informed.
