We tested how well the Identity-Deprivation-Efficacy-Action-Subjective-wellbeing (IDEAS) model predicts citizens’ intentions to engage in collective action opposing their government, and subjective well-being. Representative samples from Scotland, Wales, county of Kent England were surveyed during COVID-19 pandemic October 2020 (N = 1,536). Results largely support our preregistered hypotheses, confirming that IDEAS offers a valid explanatory framework for relative deprivation both one’s government levels In case action, there significant effects (cognitive affective) efficacy on social change beliefs, which turn positively predicted intentions. The role national identification was more nuanced, revealing negative indirect via deprivation, positive effect political orientation. Findings also suggest interesting directions future research identification.

Abstract Background Governments have implemented a range of measures focused on changing citizens’ behaviors to lower the transmission COVID-19. While international data shows that compliance did decline from start pandemic, average trends could mask considerable heterogeneity in behaviors. Purpose To explore trajectories with COVID-19 guidelines. Methods We used longitudinal self-reported 50,851 adults Social Study collected across two waves pandemic UK (April 01, 2020–February 22, 2021). modeled typical using latent class growth analysis (LCGA) and multinomial logistic regression examine whether individual personality demographic characteristics were related trajectories. Results selected four-class LCGA solution. Most individuals maintained high levels reported similar first second waves. Approximately 15% participants had decreasing reporting noticeably wave. Individuals declining younger average, better physical health, empathy conscientiousness greater general willingness take risks. Conclusions minority, not all pandemic. Decreasing is several psychological traits. The results suggest targeting behavior change messages later may be needed increase compliance.

Health communication has relevance for virtually every aspect of health and well-being, including disease prevention. This review explored the effectiveness communications in enhancing adoption or adherence to behavioural interventions (non-pharmaceutical (NPIs)) related COVID-19. The takes UK as a case study focuses on self-reported behaviours (e.g. social distancing). It also reviews psychosocial determinants adherence. Searches were conducted using PubMed, Scopus, CINAL, ASSIA iCite databases. Eleven thousand five hundred records identified 13 included final sample. Included studies suggest that NPI was generally high, had significant impacts, with key themes clarity consistency, trust control. Based evidence this review, features effective context are (i) information should be conveyed clearly conflicting (mixed) messages avoided; (ii) by trusted sources authorities) (iii) strike balance between being authoritative but avoiding language seen controlling 'you must'). Future research prioritize quantitative, experimental longitudinal designs, focus specifically an intervention, which measure behaviour. article is part theme issue 'The non-pharmaceutical COVID-19 pandemic: evidence'.

Within the 2020/21 CICADA (Coronavirus Intersectionalities: Chronic Conditions or Disabilities and Migrants other Ethnic minorities) study, we explored full, partial noncompliance with government COVID-19 infection-containment measures by people from minoritised ethnic groups a disabling health condition impairment. We used an assets-based intersectional approach purposive sampling, included non-disabled White British comparators, trained community co-researchers to help us reach undocumented migrants asylum seekers. undertook 271 semi-structured qualitative interviews, followed participatory workshops interviewees explore data changes in experiences five 10 months after interviews. Perceiving their vulnerability COVID-19, most participants quickly often zealously adopted behaviours, continued this restrictions were lifted. This could reduce mental wellbeing, especially community-facing cultures, create family conflict. Various structural inequities impeded compliance. Many, migrants, felt imprisoned. The intersection of gender, citizenship, socioeconomic status culture impacted disclosures infection, support seeking use. Many unclear what was safe as well unsafe. People complained that disability cultural considerations omitted policymaking. Participants mostly had taken vaccine October 2022, but minority needed time deliberate trusted, community-embedded information whereas influenced mass media. impairment, poverty, living alone led more non-compliance general rules, hesitancy than did misinformation spread through channels. reluctant reintegrate May 2022 because perceived September = seemed concerned about economic crisis. add two new ‘types’ existing compliance typologies: deliberators (who eventually decide follow rules), ‘necessity-driven non-compliers’ who are totally unable comply disabilities.

The aim of the present study was use large-scale free text survey data qualitatively gain more in-depth understanding impact on activity, then map barriers and facilitators Capability, Opportunity, Motivation, Behaviour (COM-B) Model aid future intervention development.17,082 participants provided module, from those who mentioned related word any context were included. Data analysed using thematic analysis key themes identified.5396 7490 quotes activity. sample predominately female (84%), white (British/Irish/Other) (97%) aged <60 years (57%). Seven identified: importance outdoor space, changes daily routine, restrictions prevented participation, perceived risks or threats health, for mental health technology.Future interventions could encourage people walk outdoors, which is low cost, flexible, accessible many. To investigate the advancements of artificial intelligence techniques in realm library and information subject, we have chosen Latent Dirichlet Allocation method as a case study to explore its current status implementations. Traditional theme mining analyses utilize methods such word frequency statistics, co-occurrence analysis, community detection, citation analysis capture external quantitative features words or documents. In contrast, modelling employs three-layer Bayesian structure document-topic-word describe themes documents semantic relationships among words, enabling better exploration latent text. This plays pivotal role fine-grained knowledge extraction analysis. We systematically review more than decade relevant literature about subject. Through content construct an analytical architecture for implementation method. architecture, viewed from perspective process Allocation, comprehensively summarizes core stages technical challenges, including text pre-processing, model construction (i.e., selection optimal number determination), solving. Additionally, provide comprehensive overview across various domains, exploration, organization, academic evaluation, sentiment recommendation study. Our findings indicate that has formed mature with ongoing growth interest.

This aim of this scoping review is to map what known about perceived coercion, pressures and procedural justice within the context general population’s experience ‘lockdowns’ imposed by governments worldwide in response increased transmission COVID-19. Arksey & O’Malley’s (2005) framework for conducting reviews was chosen. A sensitive search strategy devised conducted using PubMed, Scopus, Web Science following terms: (adherence OR acceptance agreement trust distrust compliance willing*) (perceived coerc* percept* pressure force influence control threat justice) AND (lockdown) (COVID SARS-CoV-2 COVID-19). The database initially produced 41,628 articles screen. total 40 were included five themes identified from studies: acceptability willingness adhere lockdown; during arising sanction others (in)justice lockdown. Our synthesis suggests that i) individuals experienced an initial tolerance lockdown lessened over time as perceptions personal decreased; ii) social influences may follow or break rules; iii) justifiability proportionality together with individuals’ harm COVID-19 impact extent which Furthermore, found absence information regarding specific individual characteristics circumstances increase likelihood experiencing coercion its related constructs highlights a need better understanding cultural socioeconomic factors affecting of, adherence to,
