We tested how well the Identity-Deprivation-Efficacy-Action-Subjective-wellbeing (IDEAS) model predicts citizens’ intentions to engage in collective action opposing their government, and subjective well-being. Representative samples from Scotland, Wales, county of Kent England were surveyed during COVID-19 pandemic October 2020 (N = 1,536). Results largely support our preregistered hypotheses, confirming that IDEAS offers a valid explanatory framework for relative deprivation both one’s government levels In case action, there significant effects (cognitive affective) efficacy on social change beliefs, which turn positively predicted intentions. The role national identification was more nuanced, revealing negative indirect via deprivation, positive effect political orientation. Findings also suggest interesting directions future research identification.

Objective Testing for COVID-19 was a key component of the UK’s response to pandemic. This strategy relied on positive individuals self-isolating reduce transmission, making isolation lynchpin in public health approach. Therefore, we scoped evidence systematically identify and categorise barriers facilitators compliance with self-isolation guidance during pandemic UK, inform strategies future pandemics. Design A rapid scoping review conducted. Search Key terms were used search literature databases (PubMed, Scopus WHO Research Database, 7 November 2022), Google Scholar stakeholder-identified manuscripts, ultimately including published English from UK-based studies conducted between 2020 2022. Data extraction synthesis extracted synthesised into themes, organised broadly capability, opportunity motivation, reviewed stakeholders UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). Results We included 105 sources, 63 identified UKHSA their decision-making Influences decision comply categorised six themes: perceived ability isolate; information guidance; logistics; social influences, trust; value; consequences. Individuals continuously assessed these factors deciding whether or not self-isolate. Conclusions Decisions self-isolate after test influenced by multiple factors, individuals’ beliefs, concerns, priorities personal circumstances. Future testing must facilitate meaningful financial, practical mental support allow overcome actual negative consequences isolating. Clear, consistent communication purpose procedures isolating will also be critical guidance, should leverage people’s value protecting others. Background After 3 years of its zero-COVID policy, China lifted stringent pandemic control measures with the announcement 10 new on December 7, 2022. Existing estimates suggest 90%-97% total population was infected during December. This change created a massive demand for COVID-19 medications and treatments, either modern medicines or traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Objective study aimed to explore (1) how China’s exit from policy impacted media public’s attention medications; (2) social medication discussions were related existing model daily cases that period; (3) what diversified themes topics they changed developed November 1 31, 2022; (4) which about focused by mainstream self-media accounts exit. Non-pharmaceutical interventions, including promotion of social distancing, have been applied extensively in managing the COVID-19 pandemic. Understanding cognitive and psychological factors regulating precautionary behavior is important for future management. The present study examines importance selected as predictors having visited or intended to visit crowded places. Six online questionnaire-based waves data collection were conducted April–October 2020 a Norwegian panel (≥18 years). Sample size at Wave 1 was 1,400. In study, “Visited places” different types locations dependent variables. Predictors included following categories items: Perceived response effectiveness, Self-efficacy, Vulnerability, Facilitating Barriers. Data analyzed with frequency percentage distributions, descriptives, correlations, principal components analysis, negative binomial-, binary logistic-, multiple linear regression, cross-lagged models. Analyses dimensionality revealed that distinction had be made between Grocery stores, location by most, few (e.g., “Pub,” “Restaurants,” “Sports event”). We merged latter set variables into countscore denoted “Crowded places.” On predictor side, 25 items reduced eight meanscores. from rather strong prediction weaker associations “Supermarket other store food.” Across waves, binomial regression models, three meanscore turned out consistently associated These include “Response effectiveness individual action,” “Self-efficacy regard avoiding people,” “Barriers.” prospective model, combined Response Self-efficacy score (Cognition) predicted (“Visited places”) prospectively vice versa. results this suggest some potential reduce people's visits during pandemic through health education change approaches focus on strengthening individuals' perceived self-efficacy.
