Adolescent obesity is a complex public health challenge with steadily increasing and variable prevalence among countries. This paper synthesises the driving feedback mechanisms of adolescent studied in CO-CREATE project, furthering our understanding complexity this issue. Using systems thinking principles causal loop diagramming, we integrated following knowledge perspectives derived from diverse sources into diagram (CLD): map generated by adolescents through participatory modelling workshops, comprehensive literature review, input subject-matter experts during validation workshops. We used structured iterative approach to include drivers identify loops exacerbating obesity. The CLD identified 27 key across four themes: twelve related commercial food environment, six physical activity mental wellbeing five social norms. These indicate not only diet as but also stress other emotional pressures. Objective This study aimed to explore the relationship between A Body Shape Index (ABSI) and depressive symptoms, evaluate moderating effects of sociodemographic, lifestyle, health factors. Methods We analyzed data from 19,659 participants in 2011–2018 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Depressive symptoms were assessed using Patient Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). ABSI was calculated waist circumference, height, BMI. Multiple linear regression models employed investigate association with subgroup analyses examine potential associations within specific populations. Results Higher significantly associated increased after adjusting for covariates including age, sex, race, marital status, poverty-income ratio, smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity, diabetes, hypertension. Individuals highest quartile (Q4) had more compared those lowest (Q1) ( β = 0.22, 95% CI 0.02–0.41, p 0.0323). Subgroup revealed that status hypertension moderated symptoms. Conclusion provides first comprehensive analysis link suggesting higher is greater These findings highlight importance circumference abdominal fat distribution assessing depression risk. Future research should causal mechanisms underlying this biological pathways involved, inform effective strategies prevention intervention.
