Nature prescriptions are gaining popularity as a form of social prescribing in support sustainable health care. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to synthesise evidence on the effectiveness nature determine factors important for their success. We searched five databases from inception up July 25, 2021. Randomised non-randomised controlled studies featuring prescription (ie, referral or an organised programme, by professional, encourage spending time nature) were included. Two reviewers independently conducted all steps study selection; one reviewer collected summary data published reports risk bias assessment. Abstract Nature-based Solutions are recognised for their potential to address the biodiversity and climate crises, less extensively, other societal challenges. However, this nature-society relationship is becoming more important as available food water resources, income, human health, increasingly impacted by environmental changes. Here, we utilise seven major challenges addressed according International Union Conservation of Nature, identify primary themes research landscape from 1990-2021. We evaluate how these themes, with respect challenges, evolved over time, where. Aim: To summarize the existing literature surrounding influence of natural elements on course in hospital and to introduce clinicians concept biophilic design potential for incorporation nature into environment as a component therapeutic hospitalization. Background: For decades, architects designers have espoused benefits incorporating healthcare purposes. The this “biophilic” philosophy has been investigated predominantly long-term care or rehabilitation settings; however, some most appealing opportunities lie acute setting. Methods: This scoping review surveyed exposure hospitalizations. After screening 12,979 citations, 41 articles were included. Exposures divided seven categories, common which presence window/natural light, scene through window, soundscapes. These reviewed narrative fashion thematic analysis was conducted. Results: Studies extremely heterogeneous their design, research questions, reported outcomes. Types studied real window/nature environment, art depicting nature, direct contact with soundscapes, experienced virtual reality (VR). Conclusions: Exposure during an admission appears but small effect, psychological metrics like anxiety/depression, pain, patient satisfaction. Greater beneficial effects are seen greater durations degrees immersion (e.g., creating multisensory experiences using emerging technology VR).

Abstract Increasing evidence indicates contact with nature supports mental, physical and social health. However, beyond a widely reported number of barriers to contact, the constellation motivations for human is under‐theorised under‐studied. We begin develop indicators autonomous controlled informed by self‐determination theory. These include intrinsic motivation (i.e. enjoyment), integrated regulation (alignment identify life goals), identified (a means an end), introjected (emotional reasons like guilt avoidance) external (such as peer pressure). compare these indices in nationally representative sample 5082 adults Australia 2022 Nature Relatedness Scale (NR6), also test associations between them five outcomes: time spent nature, smartphone use interest prescriptions, activity self‐rated Statistical analyses were adjusted potential confounding. Results demonstrate people have complex mixtures varying potency visiting natural settings extent which those motives are or matters what they do, benefits accrued. For example, our show that more direct considerations intrinsic, forms superior explanatory power than NR6 adherence recommendations External regulations emphasising approval associated not only no additional but distractive activities when environments, defined media while there. While avoidance increased similarly on smartphones has been shown undermine restoration. Synthesis applications: need formally measure better understand both why some visit whether mindfully maximising health experiences. This will help inform robust nature‐based interventions acceptable, effective sustainable everyone. Read free Plain Language Summary this article Journal blog.

Abstract Purpose To guide the effective use of nature-based approaches, we aimed to determine current practice, challenges and proposed solutions concerning these approaches by allied health professionals (AHPs). We also investigated signs, symptoms conditions AHPs believe may prevent and/or manage, as well perceived impact COVID-19 pandemic. Materials methods Allied who used or wanted in Australia were invited complete an online questionnaire. Qualitative data analysed through inductive coding categorisation, while descriptive statistics reported for quantitative data. Results indicated that exposure nature could manage a range physical mental health, social developmental outcomes. Perceived identified, related patients/clients, themselves, external factors. Recommended included increasing education general public, advancing more research, implementing changes governance, legitimisation part practice. Conclusions Increasing awareness evidence among across sectors – particularly with policy, education, funding, management– will support their legitimacy potential benefit populations. Despite trends of deteriorating mental health globally, help-seeking remains suboptimal. Identifying less stigmatising, low-cost, and scalable approaches to care is critical. We investigated the acceptability psychological benefits a 30-minute guided nature walk programme in an accessible country park Hong Kong among 100 community members. In subgroup 55 participants, we further examined its influences on distress, resilience, mindful attention, sleep quality after two weeks. Most participants felt more connected with (88%) could apply skills their everyday lives (81%). Significant improvements affect distress symptoms were found, even when accounting for age, prior experience, practice frequency at follow-up. Improvements also observed. These findings offer preliminary evidence positive effects brief walks well-being. Increasing accessibility green space nature-based interventions highlighted.

Traditional interventions for test anxiety often fall short of addressing the specific needs adolescents and educational institutions due to issues stigmatization professionalization. In contrast, nature-based (NBIs) have gained traction their potential enhance mental health, as they are generally accepted cost-effective, thereby offering a promising alternative alleviating anxiety. This study seeks investigate feasibility mind- body intervention (NMI) designed reduce among by integrating elements NBIs mind-body therapies (MBTs). The findings suggest that NMI can significantly diminish excessive academic stress, along with symptoms general depression. approach presents low-stigma, low-cost strategy managing in offers valuable insights health policymakers.
