Aging increases susceptibility both to psychiatric and medical disorders through a variety of processes ranging from biochemical pharmacologic societal. Interactions between aging-related brain changes, emotional psychological symptoms, social factors contribute multimorbidity – the presence two or more chronic conditions in an individual which requires patient-centered, holistic approach than used traditional single-disease treatment guidelines. Optimal older adults with necessitates appreciation understanding links biological, psychological, including trauma racism that underlie physical adults, all are topic this review.

Background Self-rated health (SRH) is a globally recognized measure of status. Both impaired sleep (IS) and the presence multimorbidity are related to poorer SRH, but precise nature these associations remains unclear. This study explored association between IS, multimorbidity, SRH among Canadian adults. Method We used 2017-18 Community Health Survey (CCHS) data for this study. The main variable interest, self-rated (SRH), measured participants' on 5-point Likert scale, later categorized as “good or better” vs. “fair poor”. primary predictor, was derived from two variables into four groups: no issues; fewer sleeping hours (<7 hours) only; trouble & sleeping. Multimorbidity present (yes/no) if participant indicated being diagnosed with more chronic conditions. Results Just over one in ten Canadians reported fair/poor approximately one-quarter had experienced few combination adjusted model greater odds associated 40-64 years age group, male sex, lower socio-economic It also suggested (AOR= 4.63, 95% CI: 4.06-5.28) troubled 4.05, 2.86-5.74) responsible poor SRH. Forty-four percent total effect IS mediated by multimorbidity. Conclusion unique finding highlights mediating role emphasizing importance addressing it alongside issues optimal outcomes.

Abstract Objectives Sleep disturbance is commonly reported by people with anxiety, depressive and personality disorders, but longitudinal studies exploring the interplay of three disturbed sleep have not previously been described. Methods In this study was examined among 89 patients initially presenting anxiety or disorders who provided follow-up at 12 30 year timepoints in The Nottingham Study Neurotic Disorder. Multiple regression models were used to identify factors most predictive poor sleep, changes quality over time. Results There strong associations between contemporaneous severity disorder presence other mental years follow-up, time points. Improvements associated improvements points, attenuated positive unadjusted effects recovery from insignificance. Relapse into further episodes predicted poorer whereas worsening significant when adjusting for factors. Conclusions This demonstrates complex a long period. Future research might look examine relationship interventional integrating trait research.
