Cutaneous tissue is one of the main targets outdoor stressors, and nowadays, effect pollution on skin conditions premature ageing has been well correlated, although exact that different pollutants have not defined, especially when compared to other stressors. Among air pollutants, UV radiation particulate matter (PM) found among most aggressive in terms damage, inducing oxinflammatory responses, promoting degradation extracellular matrix (ECM) components, compromising cutaneous defensive barrier. Topical application technologies able prevent oxidative damage still best approaches protect our skin, considering well-known antioxidant network, an mixture more recommended than a single compound. In present study, human explants were exposed every day for 4 days diesel particles (DEE) or after daily pre-treatment with topical commercially available (AOX Mix), containing 15% ascorbic acid, 0.5% ferulic acid 1% tocopherol. Oxidative stress markers such as 4-hydroxynonenal, barrier proteins involucrin, filaggrin, claudin-1 desmocollin-1, resilience elastin tropoelastin, levels Type I III collagens assessed. was induced by confirming protection needed ageing.

Atopic dermatitis, also known as atopic eczema, is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by red pruritic lesions, xerosis, ichthyosis, and pain. Among the social impacts of dermatitis are difficulties detachment in relationships stigmatization. Additionally, to cause sleep disturbance, anxiety, hyperactivity, depression. Although pathological process behind not fully known, it appears be combination epidermal barrier dysfunction immune dysregulation. Skin largest organ human body which acts mechanical toxins UV light natural against water loss. Both functions face significant challenges due dermatitis. The list factors that can potentially trigger or contribute extensive, ranging from genetic factors, family history, dietary choices, triggers, environmental factors. Consequently, prevention, early clinical diagnosis, effective treatment may only resolutions combat this burdensome disease. Ensuring safe targeted drug delivery layers, without reaching systemic circulation promising option raised nano-delivery systems dermatology. Skin aging is a complex process influenced by intrinsic factors and environmental stressors, including ultraviolet (UV) radiation air pollution, among others. In this study, we investigated the effects of UVA UVB radiation, combined with urban particulate matter (UPM), on human dermal fibroblasts (HDF). We show here that treatment HDF subcytotoxic dose UVA/UVB results in series events leading to mitochondrial dysfunction, increased ROS levels, DNA damage. These are known trigger either cellular senescence or cell death, depending cells' ability clear damage activating autophagy. Whereas UPM isolation did not affect proliferation survival HDF, note, simultaneous UV-irradiated cells selectively inhibited autophagic flux, thereby changing fate fraction population from apoptotic death. Our findings highlight synergistic UV skin aging, emphasizing need consider these assessing impact stressors health opening opportunities for developing comprehensive approaches protect preserve integrity face growing challenges.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease with relapsing-remitting course. Selected environmental factors such as infections, stressful life events, or drugs may trigger flares. Whether air pollution could psoriasis flares still unknown. To investigate whether short-term exposure to associated flares. This observational study both case-crossover and cross-sectional design retrospectively analyzed longitudinal data from September 2013 January 2020 patients plaque consecutively attending the outpatient dermatologic clinic of University Hospital Verona. For analysis, were included who had at least 1 flare, defined Area Severity Index (PASI) increase 5 greater between 2 consecutive assessments in time frame 3 4 months. received any systemic treatment for 6 more months, grade higher PASI assessment. We compared mean cumulative (area under curve) concentrations several pollutants (carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, other oxides, benzene, coarse particulate matter [PM; 2.5-10.0 μm diameter, PM10] fine PM [<2.5 PM2.5]) 60 days preceding flare control visits.A total 957 4398 follow-up visits study. Patients (SD) age 61 (15) years 602 (62.9%) men. More than 15 000 measurements pollutant concentration official, open-source bulletin Italian Institute Environmental Protection Research (ISPRA) retrieved. Among overall cohort, 369 (38.6%) We found that all significantly before (median 12; IQR, 9-18) visit 1; 1-3, P < .001). In PM10 over 20 μg/m3 PM2.5 assessment risk point worsening (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 1.55; 95% CI, 1.21-1.99; aOR, 1.25; 1.0-1.57, respectively). Sensitivity analyses stratified trimester evaluation, various lag adjusting type treatment, yielded similar results. The findings this suggest be factor flare.

The world population is ageing, in particular the developed world, with a significant increase percentage of people above 60 years old. They represent segment that more vulnerable to adverse environmental conditions. Among them, indoor air quality one most relevant, as elders spend comparatively time indoors than younger generations. Furthermore, recent COVID-19 pandemic contributed immensely raising awareness importance breathing for human health and fact vector airborne infections poisoning. Hence, this work reviews state art regarding elderly centers, considering type pollutants involved, their emission sources, effects. Moreover, influence ventilation on also addressed. Notwithstanding potential problems corresponding costs morbidity effects, only few studies have considered explicitly its impacts health. More are, therefore, necessary objectively identify what are due how it can be improved, either by reducing sources or adequate thermal comfort strategies.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) has increased in prevalence to become the most common inflammatory skin condition globally, and geographic variation migration studies suggest an important role for environmental triggers. Air pollution, especially due industrialization wildfires, may contribute development exacerbation of AD. We provide a comprehensive, multidisciplinary review existing molecular epidemiologic on associations air pollutants AD symptoms, prevalence, incidence, severity, clinic visits. Cell animal demonstrated that symptoms disease by activating aryl hydrocarbon receptor pathway, promoting oxidative stress, initiating proinflammatory response, disrupting barrier function. Epidemiologic overall report pollution is associated with among both children adults, though results are not consistent cross-sectional studies. Studies healthcare use found positive correlations between medical visits pollutants. As quality worsens many areas it recognize how this can increase risk AD, be aware demand AD-related care, understand counsel patients regarding their health. Further research needed develop treatments prevent or mitigate pollution-related symptoms.
