The COVID-19 pandemic, declared by the World Health Organization in early 2020, rapidly escalated from a global health crisis to significant public issue worldwide. This scoping review aims provide comprehensive overview of suicidal behavior and associated risk factors during pandemic. Adhering PRISMA 2020 guidelines, literature searches were conducted across five databases: Embase, MEDLINE, CINAHL, Web Science, Academic Search Complete. encompassed studies published January 1, 2019, November 29, 2023. A total 286 met inclusion criteria, offering broad perspective on behaviors underwent quality assessment using Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal for Checklist Prevalence Studies Scale (CACPSS). highest rates observed Americas, Europe, Western Pacific Region, with China United States reporting cases. Key included demographic characteristics, mental conditions, social support factors. Suicidal ideation prevalence ranged significantly, some regions exceeding 50%. Suicide attempts completed suicides also showed considerable variation different countries regions. findings emphasize need targeted interventions policies reduce suicide risk, highlighting multifaceted nature Comprehensive, multidisciplinary approaches are necessary address this pressing concern, understanding interplay among diverse is crucial developing effective prevention intervention strategies.

Psychiatric emergency departments (EDs) in France have been under pressure from several factors, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic led to an increase psychiatric disorders, particularly anxiety and depression, with younger people women being most affected. aim of this study was provide a comprehensive description trends number visits largest department France, particular focus on period preceding following advent This retrospective analyzed data 69,764 Centre Psychiatrique d'Orientation et d'Accueil (CPOA) Paris 2016 2023. Patient data, including demographics, reasons for visit, diagnoses, were collected identify over period. observed 28.5% ED primarily driven mood which showed increases 38.6% 75.4%, respectively. average age patients decreased, reflecting population increasingly affected problems. Interestingly, despite visits, hospital admissions decreased 11.9%, notable decrease involuntary commitment. findings highlight paradox where increased are not accompanied admissions. suggests shift toward outpatient care due systemic reduced bed availability challenges accessing timely services. underscores need strengthen mental health services effectively manage growing demand. Further research, especially multicenter studies, is recommended validate these inform policy changes.

Abstract Background Japan has one of the lowest COVID-19 death rates, while annual suicide rate in 2020 risen for first time since 2007. This study aimed to identify high-risk populations and assess impact medical visits on trends post-COVID-19 pandemic Japan. Method quasi-experimental analyzed a population-based database from Hyogo Prefecture (2012–2022). Interrupted time-series analyses identified level trend changes monthly rates per 1 million population during exposure period (2020–2022) versus control (2012–2019). Regular primary care psychiatry stratified analysis. Results 2181 cases were analyzed, with two-thirds male median age 54. Primary physicians psychiatric history present 69% 40% patients. The found significant overall (4.14, 95% CI: 1.70, 6.58) among individuals without regular physician (2.83, 1.35, 4.32) (2.85, 0.56, 5.14). In contrast, no observed (0.99, -0.78, 2.76) or (0.59, -0.98, 2.16). not any groups. Conclusion suggests that attending institution may have prevented rapid increase suicides early stages pandemic.

The social restrictions occurring during the pandemic contributed to loss of many sources reward, which contributes poor mental health.This trial evaluated a brief positive affect training programme reduce anxiety, depression and suicidality pandemic.In this single-blind, parallel, randomised controlled trial, adults who screened for COVID-19-related psychological distress across Australia were randomly allocated either 6-session group-based based on (n=87) or enhanced usual care (EUC, n=87). Primary outcome was total score Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale-anxiety subscales assessed at baseline, 1-week post-treatment, 3 months (primary time point) as well secondary measures suicidality, generalised anxiety disorder, sleep impairment, negative mood stress.Between 20 September 2020 16 2021, 174 participants enrolled into trial. Relative EUC, 3-month follow-up intervention led greater reduction (mean difference 1.2 (95% CI 0.4 1.9)), p=0.003), with moderate effect size (0.5 0.2 0.9)). There also improvement in quality life. no differences anhedonia, COVID-19 concerns.This able adverse experiences when rewarding events diminished, such pandemics.Strategies improve may be useful health issues.ACTRN12620000811909.

Antecedentes: Las conductas suicidas en adolescentes son un problema de salud pública que va aumento. Conocer sus factores riesgo es clave para reducirlas. Objetivo: Identificar la relación entre dos (ideación e intento) y ocho problemas mental (PSM) mexicanos. Material métodos: Mediante una encuesta línea a escolarizados 20 estados, se tamizó siguiente información: sintomatología seis PSM (problemas afectivos/ depresión, conductuales, somáticos, inatención hiperactividad, oposicionistas desafianes ansiedad) conducta suicida intentos suicidio). Se analizaron frecuencias porcentajes indagó asociación mediante regresión logística binaria. Resultados: Completaron 6766 11 19 años (16.38 ± 1.33), 61.02 % del sexo femenino. El 10 reportó 3 5 %, PSM. Los predictivos (χ2 (8) =387.13, p < 0.001) fueron afectivos/depresión, desafiantes ansiedad. Conclusión: Cinco incrementaron el reportar suicidas.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact mental health attributes, such as presence psychiatric comorbidities or psychological (low resilience), on outcomes after rotator cuff repair (RCR) and total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA).Methods: PubMed, Cochrane, Google Scholar (results pages 1–20) were searched up November 2023. Mental problems interest included (depression, anxiety) indicators poor functioning, low resilience distress. Patients assigned good groups in based their grouping original study.Results: Fourteen studies meta-analysis. with had greater improvements postoperative American Shoulder Elbow Surgeons Simple Test scores TSA cohort (P=0.003 P=0.01), RCR (P<0.001), combined (P<0.001). No difference found visual analog scale score, satisfaction, external rotation, flexion between two groups. undergoing experienced higher rates adverse events transfusions also revision emergency department visits (P=0.05 P=0.03), a rate re-admission (P<0.001).Conclusions: preoperative showed inferior patient-reported outcome increased events, revisions, re-admissions.Level evidence: III.
