The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) had a profound impact on the world’s health and economy. Although end pandemic may come in 2023, it is generally believed that virus will not be completely eradicated. Most likely, become an endemicity. rapid development vaccines different types (mRNA, subunit protein, inactivated virus, etc.) some other antiviral drugs (Remdesivir, Olumiant, Paxlovid, has provided effectiveness reducing COVID-19’s worldwide. However, circulating SARS-CoV-2 been constantly mutating with emergence multiple variants, which makes control COVID-19 difficult. There still pressing need for developing more effective to fight against disease. Plants have promising production platform both bioactive chemical compounds (small molecules) recombinant therapeutics (big molecules). naturally produce diverse range as secondary metabolites, such alkaloids, terpenoids/terpenes polyphenols, are rich source countless compounds. can also genetically engineered valuable therapeutics. This molecular farming plants unprecedented opportunity vaccines, antibodies, biologics diseases because its potential advantages, low cost, safety, high volume. review summarizes latest advancements plant-derived used combat discusses prospects challenges plant-based agents.

Introduction In recent years, diverse initiatives have been carried out to control the COVID-19 pandemic, ranging from measures restricting social activities analyzing drugs and vaccines. Studies on herbal medicines are also increasingly conducted in various countries as an adjuvant therapy or supplement. Therefore, this systematic review aimed investigate efficacy of analyzed through clinical trials with randomized controlled trial method. The outcomes Length Stay (LOS), Negative Conversion Time (NCT), Rate (NCR) were main focus. Methods An extensive literature spanning 2019 2023 was using well-known databases including PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane. search included relevant keywords such “randomized trial,” “COVID-19,” “herbal medicine.” Results A total 8 articles part inclusion criteria LOS, NCT, NCR. terms LOS outcomes, all types showed significant results, Persian Medicine Herbal (PM Herbal), Barley Water (PBW), Jingyin Granules (JY granules), Reduning Injection, Phyllanthus emblica (Amla). However, only JY granules results NCR outcome, while Injection reducing NCT. Conclusion These findings enrich our understanding potential benefits influencing NCT parameters patients. worked treat antiviral, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory mechanisms.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative caused by the progressive deposition of extracellular amyloid beta (Aβ) and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs). Of note, metabolic disorders such as insulin resistance (IR) type 2 diabetes (T2D) are associated with development brain IR neurodegeneration. In addition, AD neuropathology linked cognitive impairment accelerate peripheral progression T2D. Therefore, there bidirectional relationship between T2D AD. It has been demonstrated that induce dysregulation peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α) leading to central disturbances. Hence, dysregulated PPAR-α could be shared mechanism in both T2D, restoration signalling agonist fenofibrate (FN) may alleviate this review aims shed light on potential involvement AD, how FN effective management seems dual neuroprotective antidiabetic effects can mitigate T2D-related complications modulating various cellular processes inflammatory pathways. conclusion, possible candidate different pathways involved pathogenesis these conditions.

Even though in mid-2023 the World Health Organization declared end of public health emergency international concern status for COVID-19, many areas uncertainty about SARS-CoV-2 infection pathophysiology remain. Although last 4 years pharmaceutical industries widely invested development effective antiviral treatments and vaccines, large disparities their availability worldwide still exist, thus fostering investigation nutritional supplements as adjuvant therapeutic approaches disease management, especially resource-limited settings. During COVID-19 pandemic, vitamin D has been used an over-the-counter solution to improve evolution, thanks its known immunomodulatory anti-inflammatory actions. Ecological observational studies support a relationship between hypovitaminosis negative outcomes and, according this evidence, several research groups investigated role supplementation protecting from and/or improving evolution. This narrative review is intended offer insights into existing data on D’s biological effects respiratory infections, COVID-19. Furthermore, it will also brief overview complex interplay vaccine-elicited immune response, with special attention anti-COVID-19 vaccines.
