Cherry tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum var. cerasiforme) are cultivated and consumed worldwide. While numerous cultivars have been bred to enhance fruit quality, few studies comprehensively evaluated the quality of cherry tomato cultivars. In this study, we assessed fruits five (Qianxi, Fengjingling, Fushan88, Yanyu, Qiyu) at red ripe stage through detailed analysis their physical traits, mineral compositions, antioxidant contents, metabolite profiles. Significant variations were observed among in terms size, shape, firmness, weight, glossiness, sepal length, with each cultivar displaying unique attributes. Mineral revealed distinct patterns essential trace element accumulation, notable differences calcium, sodium, manganese, selenium concentrations. Fenjingling was identified as a enriched cultivar. Analysis contents highlighted Yanyu particularly rich vitamin C having elevated enzyme activities. Metabolomics total number 3,396 annotated metabolites, showed metabolomics Amino acid Fushan88 possess superior profile, while sweetness tartness assessments indicated that exhibited higher soluble solids (TSS) acidity. Notably, (Fushan88, accumulated significantly levels eugenol α-tomatine, compounds associated undesirable flavors, compared pink (Qianxi Fengjingling). Taken together, our results provide novel insights into nutritional value, flavor-associated metabolites tomatoes, offering knowledge could be implemented for breeding, cultivation, marketing

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a signaling molecule that regulates plant senescence. In this study, we found H2S delays dark-induced senescence in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) leaves. Transcriptome and RT-qPCR analyses revealed an Ethylene Response Factor ERF.D3 quickly induced by H2S. also persulfidated at amino acid residues C115 C118. CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing overexpression showed negatively leaf fruit ripening. Abscisic (ABA) levels were reduced overexpression, suggesting might regulate ABA metabolism. Additionally, the abscisic 8'-hydroxylase-encoding CYP707A2, which required for degradation, was identified as target through transcriptome data, RT-qPCR, dual-luciferase reporter assays electrophoretic mobility shift assays. persulfidation enhanced its transcriptional activity towards CYP707A2. Moreover, E3 ligase RNF217 ubiquitinated ERF.D3, may accelerate ripening during late stage of development. Overall, our study provides valuable insights into roles H2S-responsive state delaying link between degradation.

Plant metabolites are mainly produced through chemical reactions catalysed by enzymes encoded in the genome. Mutations enzyme-encoding or transcription factor-encoding genes can alter metabolome changing enzyme's catalytic activity abundance, respectively. Insertion of transposable elements into non-coding regions has also been reported to affect and ultimately metabolite content. In addition genetic mutations, transgenerational epigenetic variations have found metabolic content controlling metabolism-related genes. However, majority cases so far, which mechanisms associated with metabolism, non-transgenerational, triggered developmental signals environmental stress. Although, accumulating research provided evidence strong control metabolome, largely untouched. Here, we provide a review metabolism focus on epigenetics. We discuss both non-transgenerational marks regulating as well prospects field where intricate interactions between genetics epigenetics involved.

In this study, the feasibility of storing Marmande tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum, cv Rojito) under hypobaric conditions was evaluated. The fruits were sorted into four lots 72 each. One lot considered as a control, and kept in open box, while rest three remaining enclosed airtight containers subjected to 101, 75 50 Kpa, respectively. Control at room temperature, every days from beginning experiment following main quality parameters analysed: ethylene production rate, firmness, colour, total solids content, ascorbic acid, phenolics pigments, well sensory analysis carried out by panellists. results show that sub-atmospheric storage led reduction production, which associated with delay ripening. differences evolution pigments very significant, large degradation chlorophylls observed control those 101 kPa, kPa much slower. relation carotenoid it treatments delayed their appearance compared fruits. other parameters, found fruit held softened more rapidly than conditions, whose loss firmness gradual only 9 12 respect harvest. these evaluated same score time harvesting, during experiment, then positive effect also analysis. suggest could be suitable method increasing shelf-life
