Aquatic microbes, which are highly diverse in freshwater biofilms, play a vital role shaping the structure and functioning of ecosystems. Nevertheless, influence environmental factors on aquatic microbes different biogeographic ecosystems, especially tropical mountains, is relatively unexplored. Here, we examined relative climate physicochemical beta diversity stream bacteria fungi using 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing at 40 sites Mt. Kilimanjaro. Towards larger elevational distance, total turnover increased significantly, while nestedness decreased. The showed greater spatial variation than that bacteria, local contribution to (LCBD) U-shaped pattern for both taxa. Bacteria had strong positive relationships regarding diversity, LCBD their components, except nestedness, indicating similar preferences resource overlap. Among variables, mean annual temperature, water depth elevation predicted microbial depth, temperature precipitation primarily affected LCBD. Overall, climate-related variables were dominant effects more pronounced bacteria. contrasting patterns bacterial fungal ecological interactions ecosystems provide rare dataset assessing functions understudied predicting impact global change microorganisms.

Mangroves and their global significance in climate change based on the storage of blue carbon release CO2, CH4, N2O have attracted great attention. Microbial communities functions are essential for biogeochemical cycle (C), nitrogen (N), sulfur (S). Therefore, assessment microbial mangrove habitats, which suffer from different external environments, is necessary to evaluate unique ecological service functions. In present work, functional profiles four reserves (one sandy three muddy, Beibu Gulf, China) were detected by 16 s RNA gene amplicon-based Functional Annotation Procaryotic Taxa (FAPROTAX) analysis as well C, N, S q-PCR chips. The FAPROTAX showed that metabolic potential cycling indicated a difference regions. Moreover, some groups involved significantly correlated with physicochemical characteristics. However, genes chip did not same changes following variation environmental conditions those predicted analysis. Most equally distributed mangroves. Several N (amoA, amoB, nirK, nosZ), degradation (amyA, apu, mnp, lig, chiA), fixation (aclB), oxidation H2S (SoxY) higher sampling site Beihai City (Bei), was only soils. We hypothesized soil texture (sandy or muddy) rather than elements contributes more abundance S, C sediment. Our study demonstrated property easier modify genes. should pay attention redundancy microbiota when using microorganisms indicator access activity habitats.

Abstract Coastal blue carbon (C) ecosystems are recognized as efficient natural C sinks and play key roles in mitigating global climate change. Microbially driven C, nitrogen (N) sulphur (S) cycles crucial for ecosystem functioning, but how microorganisms drive sink formation sequestration coastal sediments remains unclear. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of amino sugars, N S cycling genes/pathways their associated taxa native ( Cyperus malaccensis Kandelia obovata ) alien Spartina alterniflora Sonneratia apetala vegetation. Compared to the alien‐vegetated sediment, native‐vegetated sediment had significantly p < 0.05) higher microbial necromass functional potentials chemoautotrophic fixation, degradation, methane cycling, 2 oxidation sulphate reduction. Also, our microbiomes showed that could be coupled with fixation and/or nitrate/nitrite oxidation, degradation were found pathways predicting C. Additionally, sulphur‐oxidizing Burkholderiales metagenome‐assembled genomes (MAGs) group dominated sediments. These results suggested oxidizers, particular novel lineage, might dominates through anabolism (C fixation);the coupling microbially processes; deposition derived This study provides insights into importance oxidizers shed new light on mechanism ecosystems, which also has important implications enhancing wetlands. Seagrasses harbour bacterial communities with which they constitute a functional unit called holobiont that responds as whole to environmental changes. Epiphytic rapidly respond both biotic and abiotic factors, potentially contributing the host fitness. The Lessepsian migrant Halophila stipulacea has high phenotypical plasticity harbours highly diverse epiphytic community, could support its invasiveness in Mediterranean Sea. current study aimed evaluate Halophila/Cymodocea competition Aegean Sea by analysing each of two seagrasses meadow zone where these intermingled, well their monospecific zones, at depths. Differences holobionts were evaluated using seagrass descriptors (morphometric, biochemical, elemental, isotopic composition) assess changes, 16S rRNA gene identify community structure composition. An Indicator Species Index was used bacteria significantly associated host. In mixed meadows, native C. nodosa shown be affected presence exotic H. stipulacea, terms plant communities, while responded only factors rather than proximity. This provided evidence competitive advantage on suggests possible use an ecological descriptor.

Abstract Bacterial communities play pivotal roles in nutrient cycling mangrove forests. The assembly of microbial has been found to be influenced by complex factors, such as geographic distance, physicochemical conditions, and plant identity, but the relative importance these factors how shape assembling process remain elusive. We analyzed bacterial sampled from three species ( Aegiceras corniculatum , Bruguiera sexangula Kandelia obovata ) at locations along estuarine Dongzhai Harbor Hainan, China. revealed larger differences rhizosphere among geographical than species, indicated diversity, composition, interaction networks. that dispersal limitation homogeneous selection have substantial contributions all locations. Following phylogenetic‐bin‐based null model analysis (iCAMP) framework, we also showing dominance some bins. greater may mainly attributed proportions even a short distance. beta diversity was positively correlated with environmental distances, implying more similar conditions (such rich carbon nitrogen contents) shaped communities. concluded which are associated limitation, played key role communities, while identity contributed less.

Carotenoids are extensively used in drugs, cosmetics, nutrients, and foods, owing to their antioxidant anti-inflammatory characteristics. Diverse marine heterotrophic prokaryotes can accumulate carotenoids become promising alternatives for the advancement of production. In this research, 55 strains were isolated cultivated from tidal flat sediment Zhoushan classified into phyla Pseudomonadota (n = 24), Bacillota 18), Bacteroidota 9), Actinomycetota 4). Nine them accumulated carotenoids, most belonged families Flavobacteriaceae 4) Erythrobacteraceae Among those carotenoid-producing strains, one strain, designated as D39T, was proposed novel species belonging genus Croceibacterium through polyphasic taxonomy approaches. Genomic annotations carotenoid compound determinations revealed that strain D39T encoded crtEBIYZG genes mainly zeaxanthin major carotenoids. Furthermore, biosynthesis pathway majority identical with implying members be sources producing zeaxanthin. This study enhances knowledge microbial biodiversity flats, proposes a species, elucidates Croceibacterium, which contribute enriching promoting comprehensive insight genomic contents them.
