Abstract This paper introduces a novel approach, the Modified Electric Eel Foraging Optimization (EELFO) algorithm, which integrates artificial neural networks (ANNs) with metaheuristic algorithms for solving multidisciplinary design problems efficiently. Inspired by foraging behavior of electric eels, algorithm incorporates four key phases: interactions, resting, hunting, and migrating. Mathematical formulations each phase are provided, enabling to explore exploit solution spaces effectively. The algorithm’s performance is evaluated on various real-world optimization problems, including weight engineering components, economic pressure handling vessels, cost welded beams. Comparative analyses demonstrate superiority MEELFO in achieving optimal solutions minimal deviations computational effort compared existing methods.

Abstract This study proposes a novel hybrid metaheuristic optimization algorithm named chaotic Runge Kutta (CRUN). In this study, 10 diverse maps are being incorporated with the base (RUN) to improve their performance. An imperative analysis was conducted check CRUN’s convergence proficiency, sustainability of critical constraints, and effectiveness. The proposed tested on six well-known design engineering tasks, namely: gear train design, coupling bolted rim, pressure vessel Belleville spring, vehicle brake-pedal optimization. results demonstrate that CRUN is superior compared state-of-the-art algorithms in literature. So, each case rest furnished best-optimized parameters least deviation. were enhanced RUN algorithm. However, these solution quality, prevent premature convergence, yield global optimized output. Abstract Nature-inspired algorithms known as metaheuristics have been significantly adopted by large-scale organizations and the engineering research domain due their several advantages over classical optimization techniques. In present article, a novel hybrid metaheuristic algorithm (HAHA-SA) based on artificial hummingbird (AHA) simulated annealing problem is proposed to improve performance of AHA.
