Background
Chronic
pain
is
a
common
non-motor
symptom
of
Parkinson’s
disease
(PD)
that
significantly
impacts
patients’
quality
life,
but
its
neural
mechanisms
remain
poorly
understood.
This
study
investigated
changes
in
spontaneous
neuronal
activity
and
functional
connectivity
(FC)
associated
with
chronic
PD
patients.
Methods
The
included
41
patients
(PDP),
without
(nPDP),
29
healthy
controls.
Pain
severity
was
assessed
using
the
visual
analog
scale
(VAS).
Resting-state
fMRI
images
were
used
to
measure
amplitude
low-frequency
fluctuations
(ALFF)
as
an
indicator
regional
brain
activity.
Subsequently,
FC
analysis
performed
evaluate
synchronization
between
ALFF-identified
regions
entire
brain.
Results
Compared
nPDP
patients,
PDP

ALFF

Abstract
In
this
study
we
examined
the
neuronal
mechanisms
of
chronic
pain
by
recruiting
a
participant
diagnosed
with
New
Daily
Persistent
Headache
(NDPH),
who
had
reliable
characteristic
in
that
his
baseline
could
be
immediately
and
consistently
modulated
(partially
relieved
or
aggravated)
applying
deep
pressure
to
specific
locations
along
face
head.
We
sought
map
brain
regions
responsive
modulations
using
functional
magnetic
resonance
imaging
(fMRI).
constructed
MRI-compatible
3D-printed
masks
skull

On/Off
block
paradigms,
collected
fMRI
data
across
nine
sessions
while
pressing

either
increased,

recognized
umbrella
term
encompassing
diverse
range
of
techniques
with
shared
foundational
characteristics,

for
their
potential
to
alleviate
mental

physical

While

reports
behavioral
studies
have
long
highlighted
meditation’s
benefits,
recent
neuroscientific
research
has
sought

Abstract
Somatoform
traits,
which
manifest
as
persistent
physical
symptoms
without
a
clear
medical
cause,
are
prevalent
and
pose
challenges
to
clinical
practice.
Understanding
the
genetic
basis
of
these
disorders
could
improve
diagnostic
therapeutic
approaches.
With
publicly
available
summary
statistics,
we
conducted
multivariate
genome-wide
association
study
(GWAS)
multi-omic
analysis
four
somatoform
traits—fatigue,
irritable
bowel
syndrome,
pain
intensity,
health
satisfaction—in
799,429
individuals
genetically
similar
Europeans.
Using
genomic
structural
equation
modeling,
GWAS
identified
134
loci
significantly
associated
with
common
factor,
including
44
not
significant
in
input

novel

traits.
Gene-property
analyses
highlighted
