In this paper, a method of generating controllable spikes utilizing symmetric semiconductor ring lasers (SRLs) is investigated, and various optical behaviors biological neurons are successfully emulated on faster timescale. We demonstrate the synchronized spike phenomena in two directions, generated both clockwise (CW) counterclockwise (CCW) modes tunable laser (TL)-injected SRL. The size peaks interval between them can be manipulated by adjusting output complex amplitude TL bias current. At same time, we also analyzed CW mode TL-injected SRL replicated four distinct discharge patterns neurons. These findings offer promising prospects for future neuromorphic research.

Genetically encoded voltage indicators (GEVIs) could potentially be used for mapping neural circuits at the plane of synaptic potentials and plateau potentials—two blind spots GCaMP-based imaging. In last year alone, several laboratories reported significant breakthroughs in quality GEVIs efficacy imaging equipment. One major obstacle using well performing pursuit interesting biological data is process transferring between laboratories, as their qualities (e.g., membrane targeting, brightness, sensitivity, optical signal quality) are often difficult to reproduce outside laboratory GEVI origin. We have tested eight available (Archon1, ArcLightD, ASAP1, ASAP2s, ASAP3b, Bongwoori-Pos6, FlicR1, chi-VSFP-Butterfly) two voltage-sensitive dyes (BeRST1 di-4-ANEPPS). same microscope, lens, detector, while light sources were interchanged. was attempted following three preparations: (1) cultured neurons, (2) HEK293 cells, (3) mouse brain slices. Pose estimation is crucial for many applications in neuroscience, biomechanics, genetics and beyond. We recently presented a highly efficient method markerless pose based on transfer learning with deep neural networks called DeepLabCut. Current experiments produce vast amounts of video data, which challenges both storage analysis. Here we improve the inference speed DeepLabCut by up to tenfold benchmark these updates various CPUs GPUs. In particular, depending frame size, poses can be inferred offline at 1200 frames per second (FPS). For instance, 278 × images processed 225 FPS GTX 1080 Ti graphics card. Furthermore, show that robust standard compression (ffmpeg). Compression rates greater than 1,000 only decrease accuracy about half pixel (for 640 480 size). DeepLabCut’s robustness save time hardware expenses.

Identification and delineation of brain regions in histologic mouse sections is especially pivotal for many neurogenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, connectomics studies, yet this process prone to observer error bias. Here we present a novel navigation system, named NeuroInfo, whose general principle similar that global positioning system (GPS) car. NeuroInfo automatically navigates an investigator through the complex microscopic anatomy brains (thereafter: "experimental sections"). Large scale simultaneous recording of fast patterns neural activity remains challenging. Volumetric imaging modalities such as scanning-beam light-sheet microscopy (LSM) and wide-field light-field (WFLFM) fall short the goal due to their complex calibration procedure, low spatial resolution, or high-photobleaching. Here, we demonstrate a hybrid (LSLFM) modality that yields high resolution with simplified alignment plane excitation plane. This new combines selective illumination volumetric imaging. overcomes current limitations LSM WFLFM implementations. Compared LSM, LSLFM captures data at frame rate 50× lower than requires no dynamic calibration. Abstract We provide here a current overview of marmoset (Callithrix) evolution, hybridization, species biology, basic/biomedical research, and conservation initiatives. Composed 2 subgroups, the aurita group (C C flaviceps) jacchus geoffroyi, jacchus, kuhlii, penicillata), this relatively young primate radiation is endemic to Brazilian Cerrado, Caatinga, Atlantic Forest biomes. Significant impacts on Callithrix within these biomes resulting from anthropogenic activity include (1) population declines, particularly for group; (2) widespread geographic displacement, biological invasions, range expansions penicillata; (3) hybridization; (4) epizootic Yellow Fever Zika viral outbreaks.
