Abstract Most Americans perceive lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) to be a high-risk drug, despite infrequent serious adverse events associated with its use. Though LSD use is rising in the United States, little known about whether perceived risk of (prLSD) changing or factors influencing prLSD. Using National Survey on Drug Use and Health data from 2015–2019, we investigated correlates temporal trends On multivariable modeling for respondents 18 years age older, lower prLSD was with, among other factors, later survey year, personal use, younger age, higher education level, male gender, identifying as sexual minority, having less self-influential religious beliefs, past year psychological distress. Higher Black Hispanic, suicide attempt, children home. From there statistically significant linear decreasing trend proportion who “great” trying [from 70.5–64.8%; ( p < 0.0001)]. Our findings regarding race/ethnicity could have important implications acceptability psychedelic therapy by Hispanic patients. While observed multiple differences subgroups, overall amongst may falling level more accurately reflecting LSD’s actual profile.

Though lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) use is rising in the United States amid expanding research into therapeutic potential of psychedelics, little scholarly work exists on whether perceived risk trying LSD (prLSD) changing or factors influencing prLSD among general public. Therefore, we sought to investigate changes from 2015 2019 and identify characteristics associated with respondents National Survey Drug Use Health (NSDUH). Using NDSUH data 2019, investigated correlates temporal trends prLSD, reporting results for entire sample, as well under age 18 (<18) older (18+) subgroups. Orthogonal polynomial contrasts were used evaluate across survey years. Multivariable models constructed prLSD. On multivariable modeling 18+, lower had statistically significant associations later year, personal use, younger age, higher education level, male gender, identifying a sexual minority, past year psychological distress, other factors. Higher was Black Hispanic, suicide attempt, having children home. Notable differences <18 subgroup no association between Hispanic gender being From there linear decreasing trend proportion who "great" [from 70.5% 64.8%; (p < 0.0001)]. Meditation practice and psychedelic use have attracted increasing attention in the public sphere scientific research. ABSTRACT We investigated the content, consistency and accuracy (i.e., convergence with self‐assessment) of stereotypes about recreational users common psychoactive substances. In Study 1 ( N = 470), participants rated a typical occasional user one seven substances (cannabis, MDMA, heroin, LSD, cocaine, amphetamine alcohol) on personality traits, values other attributes. Results revealed distinct highly consistent across 2 1163) assessed stereotype by comparing them to self‐reports from an international sample substance users. Accuracy (based overall distinctive similarity) was generally low, cocaine revealing highest accuracy. Modest also found for heroin. These findings highlight prevalence yet largely inaccurate in society. The discrepancy between agreement is discussed context origins these stereotypes.

Background The current study is one of the first to examine race, ethnic, and sex differences in prevalence trends hallucinogen use among lifetime users United States. Methods Data came from 2015–2019 National Survey on Drug Use Health included respondent's reporting ever-using hallucinogens ( n = 41,060; female 40.4%). Descriptive multinomial logistic regression analyses were conducted Stata. Results Highest past year was Asian females (35.06%), which two-or-more times larger than White males/females Native American males. More half males/females, Multiracial males, Hispanic males reported had ever-used psilocybin or LSD, whereas less one-quarter Black use, a third LSD use. lowest MDMA (17.62–33.30%) but highest peyote (40.37–53.24%). Pacific Islander mescaline (28.27%), DMT (15.68–38.58%). Black, Asian, people greater odds past-year (ORs 1.20–2.02; p s < 0.05) past-month 1.39–2.06; compared people. Females lower (OR 0.79; 0.05), 0.78; except for 1.29; 0.05). Conclusions These findings should inform public health initiatives regarding potential benefits risks racial/ethnic groups women.
