Vandalism of traffic signs is a phenomenon that arose in the 20th century and not only stage its formation, but also has no comprehensive scientific justification today, both from standpoint determinants occurrence, point view likely consequences for society. Vandal damage varied – tagging sticking with stickers, to deformation sign or dismantling theft. At same time, works researchers, decrease ability vandal-damaged effectively regulate noted, which can lead potentially dangerous situations on road. Thus, purpose study presented article was identify specifics conditions megalopolises. In period 2021, material collected using method photographing vandally damaged three megalopolises Federation (Vladivostok, Ekaterinburg, St. Petersburg), as part route vandal transformations urban environment. For analysis, 63 images selected, later evaluated by experts. It found most frequently vandalized information additional information, have white background rectangular shape, acting an actual "canvas" vandals. Tagging pasting stickers (70.4% 59.2% cases signs, respectively) become typical signs. Considering the increased pollution of urban spaces by vandalistic transformations, it is important to take into account impact they have on observers. The aim this study identify potential “soft power” in vandalized texts determining characteristics their perception and memorization, taking theme text linguistic device used attract attention. utilizes 21 photo images recorded environment major cities Russian Federation, which were as stimulus material. research based examination memorization through a laboratory experiment using an eye-tracker (sample size — 20 individuals). <p style="text-align: justify;">Vandalism is a widespread phenomenon that causes material damage and contributes to the degradation of urban environment, which requires introduction effective preventive measures based on an understanding genesis phenomenology vandalism. One basic theories used in prevention vandalism &ldquo;broken windows&rdquo; theory. The theory suggests spread vandal transformations caused by initial signals potential for norm violations, weak social control, insufficient sanctioning such violations. Minor signs tolerance deviance environment (graffiti, littering, etc.) may contribute serious delinquent behavior. As result, has been central &ldquo;zero tolerance&rdquo; policy. There are valid criticisms theory, related both its evidence base failure account complex causal relationships operation norms. Regarding vandalism, limitations diversity forms activity, each regulated separate norms, lack desire anonymity or avoidance sanctions some vandals, tactical nature close connection with cultural foundations community.</p>
