Cancers impose a significant health and economic burden. By harnessing the immune system, current immunotherapies have revolutionized treatment against human cancers potentially offer long-term cure. Among others, innate-like T (iT) cells, including natural killer are promising candidates for immunotherapies. Unlike conventional iT cells regulate multiple processes express an invariant cell receptor that is shared among different individuals. However, conditions activate pro- antitumor functions of partially understood. These gaps in knowledge hamper use clinics. It might be beneficial to examine roles alternative animal model – amphibian Xenopus whose system shares many similarities mammals. Here, we review biology context mammalian discuss challenges currently found field. Next, introduce advantages as investigate role interacting major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I-like molecules tumor immunity. In Xenopus, 2 specific subsets, Vα6 Vα22 recognize fight cells. Furthermore, our recent data reveal MHC (XNC) gene XNC10 responses. utilizing reverse genetics, transgenesis, tetramers, unique opportunity uncover relevance XNC genes

Abstract With the successful establishment of both targeted gene disruption and integration methods in true diploid frog Xenopus tropicalis , this excellent vertebrate genetic model now is making a unique contribution to modelling human diseases. Here, we summarize our efforts on establishing homologous recombination‐mediated usefulness, limitation via homology‐independent strategy, future directions how further improve .
