BACKGROUND Despite advancements in early detection and treatment, the prognosis histological types for residual gastric cancer (GC) remains poor. CASE SUMMARY This case report presents a rare occurrence of GC featuring combination small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (SCNEC) squamous (SCC) 60-year-old male patient. The patient, with history Billroth II gastrectomy duodenal ulcer bleeding, presented gastrointestinal bleeding. Preoperative computed tomography positron emission tomography-computed indicated adenocarcinoma tumor abdominal lymph node metastasis. patient underwent laparoscopic total dissection GC. Histological examination resected confirmed presence both SCNEC SCC. Postoperatively, adjuvant chemotherapy four times. Two years later, was found to occur esophageal performed bowel stoma radical esophagectomy. CONCLUSION In this report, we detail instance mixed SCC, emphasizing complexity diagnosis need ongoing research.

ABSTRACT Background Dyspepsia is associated with a variety of benign and malignant gastrointestinal diseases. The aim the study was to evaluate spectrum upper endoscopic findings in patients presenting dyspepsia. Methods This retrospective on consecutive dyspepsia undergoing endoscopy at gastroenterology department Thingangyun General Hospital, University Medicine 2, Yangon, from January 1, 2017, December 31, 2019. Results In this study, 1650 were recruited retrospectively. Forty‐nine excluded due incomplete data entry. There 883 female (55%) out 1601 patients. mean age 50.5 ± 15.82 years. gastric/duodenal erosion (10.8%), erosive esophagitis (5.1%), duodenal ulcer (3.5%), gastric (4.4%), gastroesophageal varices (3.49%), esophageal cancer (0.8%), (5.3%); which early‐onset contributed for 17.6%. Miscellaneous diagnoses 4.2%, normal 62.5%. Significant diagnosed over 45 years age. Helicobacter pylori infection found 40.6% total population, 52% cancers, 50% ulcers, 51.2% 49.3% erosions. Conclusion dyspeptic are frequent our data. A considerable number under H. prevalent population. threshold 40–45 both males females could be reasonable use

Background: Serum albumin, a marker of nutritional status, has been associated with surgical outcomes. This study evaluated the correlation between serum albumin levels and early postoperative complications in gastric cancer surgery patients. Methods: A prospective cross-sectional observational was conducted from July 2017 to March 2019 at National Institute Cancer Research Hospital (NICRH), Dhaka. Forty patients biopsy-proven operable carcinoma were included using purposive sampling. measured preoperatively postoperatively, assessed. Data analysed SPSS version 22, statistical significance set p<0.05. Results: The mean preoperative level 3.8±0.4 gm/dl, which significantly decreased 3.3±0.2 gm/dl postoperatively (p<0.05). Postoperative hypoalbuminemia (<3.5 gm/dl) observed 52.5% complications, including wound infections (38.1%), pneumonia (14.29%), urinary tract (28.57%), duodenal sump leaks (9.52%). No ≥3.5 (p<0.001). Conclusions: is reliable predictor surgery. Maintaining adequate through optimization can reduce morbidity, especially resource-constrained settings. These findings underscore need for integrating monitoring into routine perioperative care.

In this case-control study, the main risk factors for atrophic gastritis (AG) were comprehensively analyzed in a real-world environment to identify potential associated with garlic intake and its effects on AG. Design Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy pathological examination performed as part of gastric cancer screening health check-up program. The detailed characteristics both case group healthy control recorded analyzed. All participants fasted at least 4 h urea breath test13C-UBT) was all rest. Both univariate multivariate logistic regression analyses presented odds ratio (OR) 95% confidential interval (CI), additional subgroup analysis stratified by infectious state based presence, eradication or absence H. pylori. Setting Gansu Province China. Participants 10,035 people from China included. Among 7,058 participants, 4,712 (66.8%) had Garlic significant factor AG currently (infected state) previously (eradicated infected pylori (OR = 1.39, CI: 1.06–1.83; OR 1.16, CI 1.01–1.32). not significantly without pylori' s infection 1.14, 0.88–1.46). association between differed state. People eradicated states are higher intake. Diet may regulate pathogenic role intestinal flora.

Introduction. Gastric cancer maintains a significant position among malignant neoplasms in terms of incidence rates and cancer-specific mortality, with higher prevalence geriatric patients. In recent years, there has been notable trend increasing oncological morbidity younger individuals. The aim the study is to identify epidemiological pathophysiological characteristics gastric young Materials methods. Thematic search scientific papers was carried out by keywords “early-onset cancer”, “young patients”, “gastric incidence”, “cancer-specific mortality”, “cancer patient survival”, “risk factors for tumor progression” cohort full-text publications presented electronic libraries eLibrary, PubMed, Scopus 2015–2024. Results. distribution patients age revealed that highest proportion cases both diagnosed deceased found under 50 years African countries, while lowest observed European countries. Malignant tumors individuals typically lack clinical symptoms, especially diffuse-type cancer. This may not be due involvement other organs but rather appearance signs upon primary dissemination, leading development complications. Risk include dietary disturbances, addictions, diseases esophagogastroduodenal zone hepatopancreatobiliary system, genetic mutations, microbial contamination, hormonal imbalances. A association between high frequency diffuse estrogen receptor expression women, particularly those an unfavorable prognosis. combination progression exacerbation dysbiosis gastroduodenal zone, as well lymphogenic metastasis, also highlighted. patients, locally advanced primarily disseminated neoplastic processes are dominant, degree malignancy. Discussion conclusion. promising avenue research involves refining pathogenic mechanisms carcinogenesis, relation estrogen-dependent proliferation epithelial cells, variability immune mediator signaling induction context pathomicrobiome, potential genuine reversals associated lifestyle changes.

Background/Objectives: Gastric cancer treatments can lead to significant alterations patients’ gastrointestinal microbiome. However, differences in microbial impacts between gastrectomy and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) remain underexplored. This study investigates how these influence diversity composition patients with stage I gastric cancer. Methods: Patients pathologically confirmed were recruited from Chung-Ang University Hospital December 2016 2019. analyzed fecal samples 13 (ESD: n = 5; gastrectomy: 8) before after treatment using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Microbial indices taxonomic compared, follow-up extending up two years. Results: In the total cohort, alpha significantly decreased post-treatment (p < 0.05), beta analysis showed distinct clustering pre- 0.05). At genus level, Bacteroides while Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Blautia increases Comparative analyses revealed that ESD group, remained unchanged, although without notable changes major taxa. contrast, surgical resection resulted a reduction 0.05) increased abundances of Streptococcus abundance Conclusions: Surgical exerts effects on microbiome composition, has more limited impact. These findings underscore importance considering postoperative management.
