Beyond its key role in calcium homeostasis, vitamin D has been found to significantly affect the cardiovascular (CV) system. In fact, low levels have associated with increased CV risk, as well morbidity and mortality. The majority of effects this molecule are related directly or indirectly antioxidative anti-inflammatory properties. Generally, insufficiency is considered for 25-hydroxyvitamin (25(OH)D) between 21–29 ng/mL (corresponding 52.5–72.5 nmol/L), deficiency 25(OH)D less than 20 (<50 extreme 10 (<25 nmol/L). However, definition an optimal status, defined by 25(OH)D, remains controversial many extra-bone conditions, including disease. review, confounding factors affecting measurement status will be discussed. particular, available evidence on mechanism relation risk disease through antioxidant effect reported, also facing aspect regarding debate minimum blood level required ensure health.

The analysis of literature revealed the peculiarities vitamin D metabolism in diabetic kidney damage, as well its role development renal, metabolic changes, including bone and mineral disorders. Vitamin D, due to influence on various physiological processes through receptors, plays a key regulation metabolism, functioning immune system control other extraskeletal effects. In patients with deficiency causes impaired hydroxylation formation an active metabolite (1,25(OH)2D3), which leads progression proteinuria fibrosis. mechanisms glucose interaction at level proximal tubules were analyzed, emphasizes need for further research develop therapeutic strategies correcting damage order improve their prognosis.

A global deficiency in vitamin D is now widely prevalent. Extensive scientific research has provided compelling evidence of the detrimental effects on skeletal system. Furthermore, supplementation not only helps prevent bone fractures but may also slow progression various conditions, such as diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and cardiovascular disease. Achieving optimal circulating levels can be challenging, particularly certain clinical scenarios. Moreover, effect varies depending factors body weight, pregnancy status, absorption capacity, metabolic rate, renal function. This review aims to explore which formulations are most effective specific contexts where reaching adequate straightforward.

Background. Vitamin D deficiency is a global issue negatively affecting the course of autoimmune diabetes, including classical type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and latent in adults (LADA). plays vital role immune response regulation, maintaining β-cell function pancreas, metabolic balance. The purpose study was to evaluate efficacy adding cholecalciferol at dose 20,000 IU (once weekly for 3 months) standard therapy improve status patients with T1DM LADA. Materials methods. A total 72 participated study: 36 They were divided into subgroups depending on treatment received: basic or vitamin supplementation. comprehensive evaluation carbohydrate metabolism indicators (fasting glycemia, HbA1c, HOMA-IR, insulin, C-peptide levels), activity (antibodies glutamic acid decarboxylase (antiGAD)), lipid profile conducted before after treatment. Results. addition significantly increased serum 25(OH)D levels, ensuring substantial improvement patients. In groups receiving supplemental cholecalciferol, there notable reduction fasting glucose HbА1с, antiGAD titers, indicating positive impact glycemic control decrease activity. Additionally, exhibited improvements metabolism, decreased levels cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein triglycerides, high-density cholesterol. Particularly significant an increase observed LADA, reflecting enhanced pancreas. This effect may be related as well anti-inflammatory properties D, which contribute maintenance β-cells their ability secrete insulin. confirms pleiotropic effects D: reducing inflammation, improving insulin sensitivity, normalizing profiles, supporting function. Conclusions. findings highlight importance monitoring correcting particularly presence deficiency. above data could used optimize therapeutic approaches reduce risk complications this patient population.

Background The impact of knee osteoarthritis on individuals’ daily functioning is significant. In recent years, Vitamin D supplements cure has garnered attention from medical professionals and patients due to its simplicity portability. Several systematic reviews (SRs) meta-analyses (MAs) have examined the efficacy vitamin supplementation for osteoarthritis, yet there variability in their methodology quality. Objective To search, gather, analyze data characteristics quantitative results SR/MA with KOA treated supplementation, objectively evaluate supplements. Background: Vitamin D is a prohormone necessary for the optimal functioning of locomotor and circulatory systems in humans. As caveat, vitamin metabolism crucial maintaining musculoskeletal cardiovascular health overexercising people, like athletes. Our study intended to explore relationship between serum 25-hydroxy (25(OH) D) levels left ventricle/right ventricle (LV/RV) systolic diastolic function adolescent athletes using 2D Doppler studies. Methods: In our cross-sectional study, 100 were divided into two groups: insufficiency (25(OH)D<20 ng/mL) sufficiency (25(OH)D>20 with 30 males 20 females both groups. A detailed physical examination basic biochemical tests performed; 25(OH)D determined, an echocardiographic evaluation was performed. Results: We found that decreased associated impairment many indicators cardiac function, such as ventricular-right ventricular-interventricular septum peak velocity (Sm) Tei index, inflow early late ratio (E/A), annulus myocardial (E′), E/E′ ratio. Conclusions: To protect functions athletes, we suggest screening 25(OH) during certain periods, fall winter, supplementation if necessary.

Perinatal vitamin D (Vit. D) deficiency (VDD) disrupts the development of key tissues involved in metabolic regulation, including endocrine pancreas, white adipose tissue, and skeletal muscle. Brown tissue (BAT), essential for thermoregulation energy homeostasis, may also be affected, but impact perinatal VDD on BAT physiology remains unclear. In this study, forty female Wistar rats were fed either a standard AIN93G diet (1000 IU Vit. D3/kg; control group, CT) (n = 20) or modified lacking (VDD group) six weeks prior to conception throughout gestation lactation. Male offspring evaluated at weaning (PN21) adulthood (PN180) after status was normalized through diet. We found that reduced total lipid droplet area, increased oxygen consumption, upregulated thermogenic gene expression weaning. Correspondingly, exhibited greater cold tolerance enhanced recruitment upon exposure (4 °C). Notably, normalization by fully reversed these changes, indicating while transiently enhances activity during early life, it does not produce lasting effects into adulthood.

Minipuberty is a transient phase of reproductive axis activation during the first several months life, playing an important role in development organs boys. Low 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels pregnancy are associated with increased risk neonatal complications. An inadequate gestational vitamin status hypothesized to affect postnatal hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis. The purpose our study was assess whether low determines course minipuberty included three groups male infants born women different statuses: sons deficiency (group 1), insufficiency 2), and offspring females normal 3 (the reference group)). Concentrations testosterone, androstenedione, dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, estradiol, progesterone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone saliva, as well concentrations gonadotropins urine, were assayed monthly from 1 6, once every 2 second half year life. Additionally, at each visit, penile length testicular volume assessed. FSH, LH, volume, greater group than 3. In turn, characterized by higher FSH Peak LH testosterone observed earlier remaining groups. obtained results suggest that may have stimulatory impact on activity early genital organs, correlating severity hypovitaminosis D.
