Introduction In today’s digital age, concerns about internet addiction among adolescents have escalated alongside the widespread use of internet. Simultaneously, research has spotlighted influence psychological factors like self-esteem and social anxiety on addictive behaviors. The aim this study was to verify hypothesis regarding as a mediator in association between addiction. Methods A total 10,158 participants were randomly selected from five vocational schools Anhui Province, China, with mean age 18.5 years. They completed series self-administered questionnaires, including Young Internet Addiction Test (IATS), Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS), Self-Esteem (SES). Structural equation modeling (SEM) employed examine mediating role addiction, adjusting for demographic variables such gender, parental education. Results correlation analysis revealed that significantly negatively correlated while positively indirect effect through 0.11 ( p < 0.01), constituting 28.35% effect. Additionally, impact 0.278 0.01).
