Abstract Background Combining non-specialists and digital technologies in mental health interventions could decrease the healthcare gap resource scarce countries. Addictive substances are prevalent world-wide, and their use presents a substantial persistent public health problem. A wide range of digital interventions to decrease negative consequences thereof have been explored, differing in approach, theoretical grounding, specific technologies, more. The current study was designed comprehensively map the recent (2015-2022) extant literature systematic manner, identify neglected emerging knowledge gaps. Four major databases (Medline, Web Science Core Collection, PsychInfo) were searched using database-specific search strategies, combining terms related clinical presentation (alcohol, tobacco or other drug use), technology aim. Abstract Scalable solutions to treat depression in older adults low-resourced settings are urgently needed. The PRODIGITAL-D pragmatic, single-blind, two-arm, individually randomized controlled trial assessed the effectiveness of a mobile messaging psychosocial intervention improving depressive symptomatology among socioeconomically deprived areas Guarulhos, Brazil. Older (aged 60+ years) registered with 24 primary care clinics and identified (9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) scores ≥ 10) received 6-week Viva Vida based on psychoeducation behavioral activation ( n = 298) or single message 305).
