Importance Emerging evidence suggests that wearable devices are feasible for monitoring physical activity among patients with lung cancer. However, the association between and improvement in patient recovery after surgery remains underexplored. Objective To evaluate effects of a device intervention on activity, cardiopulmonary function, health-related quality life (HRQOL) cancer surgery. Design, Setting, Participants This nonrandomized clinical trial historical control was conducted at single tertiary center (Samsung Comprehensive Cancer Center) Seoul, South Korea, October 18, 2018, May 24, 2019. Patients were included if they had suspected or confirmed non–small cell scheduled curative more extensive than lobectomy an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group status 0 1. compared participants from data collected September 20, 2017, 10, as part Coordinated Approach to Patients’ Health Lung (CATCH-LUNG) prospective cohort study. Data analysis performed June 21 July 16, 2020. Intervention A personalized exercise regimen monitored via administered home 3 stages: preoperative (from diagnosis surgery), immediate discharge 2 months later postoperative 6 surgery). Control received usual care. Main Outcomes Measures The primary outcome co–primary surgery, measured 6-minute walking distance (6MWD) number daily steps, using linear regression model. Secondary outcomes changes HRQOL, including function symptoms baseline weeks Additionally, (number steps time spent moderate-to-vigorous [MVPA]) (time MVPA) assessed secondary outcomes. Results 74 group (mean [SD] age, 60.4 [8.7] years; 31 [41.9%] men 43 [58.1%] women) 120 60.2 65 [54.2%] 55 [45.8%] women). Wearable sensor technologies are becoming increasingly relevant in health research, particularly the context of chronic disease management. They generate real-time data that can be translated into digital biomarkers, which provide insights our and well-being. Scientific methods to collect, interpret, analyze, translate from wearables biomarkers vary, systematic approaches guide these processes currently lacking. This paper is based on an observational, longitudinal cohort study, BarKA-MS, collected wearable physical rehabilitation people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). Based experience we discuss ten lessons learned relation biomarker development across key study phases. We then summarize a guiding framework (DACIA) aims informs use for management future research teaching.

Large-scale and detailed analyses of activity in the United States (US) remain limited. In this work, we leveraged comprehensive wearable, demographic, survey data from All Us Research Program, largest most diverse population health study US to date, apply extend previous global findings on inequality within context US. We found that daily steps differed by sex at birth, age, body characteristics, geography, built environment. Quantifying using modified Gini index, a strong correlation with obesity prevalence (R2 = 0.804) moderate perceived walkability 0.426) gender gap 0.385). This demonstrates value digital technologies exploring understanding public practices while highlighting need examine complexities, including biopsychosocial factors may contribute inequality.
