The control of non-coding repeated DNA by methylation plays an important role in genomic stability, contributing to health and healthy aging. Mind-body practices can elicit psychophysical wellbeing via epigenetic mechanisms, including methylation. However, this context the effects movement meditations have rarely been examined. Consequently, current study investigates a specifically structured meditation, called Quadrato Motor Training (QMT) on level sequences. An 8-week daily QMT program was administered women aged 40-60 years compared with passive group matched for gender age. Psychological well-being assessed within both groups using self-reporting scales, Meaning Life Questionnaire [MLQ] Wellbeing Scale [PWB]). profiles sequences (ribosomal DNA, LINE-1 Alu) were determined saliva samples deep-sequencing. In contrast controls, exhibited increased Search Meaning, decreased Presence Positive Relations, suggesting that may lessen automatic patterns thinking. group, we also found site-specific significant variations ribosomal repeats, consistent genome stability. Finally, correlations between changes psychometric indices (MLQ PWB) suggest observed psychological are interrelated. Collectively, results indicate improve trajectories influencing specific repetitive

Allostatic load refers to the cumulative burden of chronic stress and life events. It involves interaction different physiological systems at varying degrees activity. When environmental challenges exceed individual ability cope, then allostatic overload ensues. is identified by use biomarkers clinical criteria. To summarize current knowledge on its implications based a systematic review literature.PubMed, PsycINFO, Web Science, Cochrane Library were searched from inception December 2019. A manual search literature was also performed, reference lists retrieved articles examined. We considered only studies in which or adequately described assessed either non-clinical adult populations.A total 267 original investigations included. They encompassed general population studies, as well consequences load/overload both physical mental health across variety settings. The findings indicate that are associated with poorer outcomes. Assessment provides support understanding psychosocial determinants lifestyle medicine. An integrated approach includes biological markers clinimetric criteria recommended.

Classic theories of stress and health are largely based on assumptions regarding how different psychosocial stressors influence biological processes that, in turn, affect human behavior. Although theoretically rich, this work has yielded little consensus led to numerous conceptual, measurement, reproducibility issues. Social Safety Theory aims address these issues by using the primary goal regulatory logic brain immune system as basis for specifying social-environmental situations which systems should respond most strongly maximize reproductive success survival. This analysis gave rise integrated, multi-level formulation described herein, transforms thinking about biology provides a biologically based, evolutionary account why experiences social safety threat related health, well-being, aging, longevity. In doing so, theory advances testable framework investigating biopsychosocial roots disparities well health-relevant crystalize over time perceptions environment interact with childhood microbial environment, birth cohort, culture, air pollution, genetics, sleep, diet, personality, self-harm health. The also highlights several interventions reducing promoting resilience.

Abstract Fetal exposure to prenatal stress can have significant consequences on short- and long-term health. Epigenetic mechanisms, especially DNA methylation (DNAm), are a possible process how these adverse environmental events could be biologically embedded. We evaluated candidate gene as well epigenome-wide association studies associating DNAm changes in peripheral tissues; however, most of findings lack robust replication. Prenatal stress-associated epigenetic also been linked child health including internalizing problems, neurobehavioral outcomes reactivity. Future should focus refined measurement definition its timing, ideally incorporating genomic longitudinal information. This will provide further opportunities enhance our understanding the biological embedding exposure.

Purpose To analyze and interpret why some individuals are resilient to ELS while others susceptible, resulting in psychiatric outcome later life, with a focus on the role of DNAm NR3C1 gene as mediating mechanism between risk outcomes. We hypothesized that high level mental resilience ELS, expressed lower incidence outcomes, was associated attenuated levels.

Environmental factors, including stress, that are experienced during early life (ELS) or adolescence potential risk factors for the development of behavioral and mental disorders later in life. The endocannabinoid system plays a major role regulation stress responses emotional behavior, thereby acting as mediator vulnerability resilience. Among critical which determine magnitude direction long-term consequences exposure is age, i.e., maturity brain circuits exposure. Thus, present study addressed hypotheses ELS adolescent differentially affect expression regulatory elements system, cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1R) fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) adult female rats. We also tested hypothesis proposed gene changes epigenetically modulated via altered DNA-methylation. specific aims were to investigate if (i) single stressors induce CB1R FAAH (ii) influences effect on expression, (iii) paralleled by DNA methylation. following experimental groups investigated: (1) non-stressed controls (CON), (2) (ELS), (3) (forced swimming; FS), (4) + FS found an up-regulation both single-stressor reduction back control levels group. An was only data indicate ELS, very immature stage development, exerts buffering programming induced stress. detected accompanied methylation patterns promoter region these genes, specifically, negative correlation mean with found. Our results induces “(re)programming” effect, characterized CpG-site within regions two genes influence response at adolescence.

The relationship between adverse experiences and the emergence of pathology has often focused on characteristics stressor or individual (stressor appraisals, coping strategies).
