Abstract In chronic kidney disease, calcium and phosphate imbalances occur, causing numerous dysfunctions of related regulatory mechanisms, called disease–mineral bone disorder (CKD-MBD). Its consequences include impaired health heightened risk fractures, extensive soft tissue calcification, most significantly affecting arteries, leading to the deterioration cardiovascular health. Over past decades, many pathophysiological connections have been found markers discovered that can be used evaluate status, as well extent vascular calcifications. These a multitude older newer laboratory parameters imaging methods. The use effective predictive scoring systems improve identification patients who are at developing complications. Aside from discoveries novel markers, opportunistic some commonly utilised diagnostic methods patient has already undergone for other indications powerful tool.

Background/Objectives: Post-translationally modified peptide fragments of fetuin-A (FetA) were identified as a potential biomarker diabetic kidney disease (DKD). An independent association between urinary FetA-derived levels (uPTM3-FetA) and DKD progression in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) was evidenced. This study aimed to explore uPTM3-FetA excretion its associations insulin resistance, inflammatory metabolic biomarkers 1 (T1D), the normal albuminuria estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) > 60 mL/min/1.73 m2. Methods: aliquots 24 h urine specimens, routine laboratory renal, tests, adipokines (leptin, adiponectin, resistin), assessed glucose disposal (eGDR), measured cohort 169 adult T1D patients. To evaluate changes early renal dysfunction, divided according median eGFR. Above- below-median-eGFR groups considered having declining function, respectively. Results: The (IQR) level 11.7 (8.43–16.65 µg/24 h), no significant difference males females, well function However, sex-specific analysis revealed significantly higher male lower eGFRs, when compared those whereas such observed female BMI, hs-CRP, resistin HDL-cholesterol predictors excretion. Conclusions: Our results implicate role detection an dysfunction T1DM pinpoint importance approach diagnostics research.

In this systematic review we have sought to summarise the current knowledge concerning biomarkers that can distinguish between steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome and steroid-sensitive syndrome. Additionally, aim select best evidence-base should be prioritised for further research. Pub med web of science databases were searched using “steroid resistant AND biomarker”. Papers published 01/01/2012 10/05/2022 included. did not compare steroid sensitive syndrome, report sensitivity/specificity or area under curve reviews/letters excluded. The selected papers then assessed bias QUADAS-2 tool. source biomarker, cut off, sensitivity/specificity, sample size all extracted. Quality assessment was performed BIOCROSS 17 studies included, comprising 15 case-control 2 cross-sectional studies. Given rarity difficulty in recruiting large cohorts, accepted despite their limitations. We present a range candidate along with scores relating quality original publications risk inform future investigations. None stated whether authors blinded patient’s disease when assessing index test cohort. Highlighting key problem field needs addressed. These must now tested much larger sizes. Using new biobanks such as one built by NURTuRE-INS team will very helpful regard.

Background. Considering that most diagnostic tests for diabetic peripheral polyneuropathy (DPN) are not suitable use in childhood, resulting low accuracy of this complication, there is a need to identify reliable and simple markers early detection monitoring progression children. Purpose: study the content fetuin A, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), S100 protein copeptin blood serum children with type 1 diabetes mellitus determine their role development polyneuropathy. Materials methods. We examined 63 aged 10 17 years. Group included 26 patients without signs neuropathy, group 2 consisted 37 The control 29 representative terms age gender carbohydrate metabolism disorders. levels acid, protein, were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using commercial kits. Results. It has been proven who did have DPN, was 1.6-fold increase A 2.4-fold GABA compared (p < 0.05). With decrease both GABA. significant statistical level found while values statistically differ from > An severity neurological deficit inversely related (r = –0.40; p 0.05) –0.45; positively correlated 0.66; 0.68; Conclusions. comprehensive fetuin, GABA, can act as an additional objective marker DPN will allow objectification improvement diagnosis complication.
