Abstract Background The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a new alternative measure for insulin resistance. This meta-analysis was conducted to assess the associations of TyG with risks cardiovascular diseases and mortality in general population. Methods PubMed, Cochrane Library Embase databases were searched randomized controlled trials or observational cohort studies reporting from inception April 16, 2022. Effect sizes pooled using random-effects models. Robust error meta-regression methods applied fit nonlinear dose–response associations. Evidence quality levels recommendations assessed Grading Recommendations Assessment, Development Evaluation system (GRADE). Results Twelve (6 prospective 6 retrospective cohorts) involving 6,354,990 participants included this meta-analysis. Compared lowest category, highest related higher incidence coronary artery disease (CAD) (3 studies; hazard ratio [HR] = 2.01; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.68–2.40; I 2 0%), myocardial infarction (MI) (2 HR 1.36; CI 1.18–1.56; 35%), composite (CVD) (5 1.46; 1.23–1.74; 82%). However, there no association between (cardiovascular [3 1.10; 0.82–1.47; 76%] all-cause [4 1.08; 0.92–1.27; 87%]). In analysis, linear risk CAD (P 0.3807) CVD 0.0612). GRADE assessment indicated very low certainty CVD, MI, mortality, moderate CAD. Conclusions Based on our current evidence, may be associated an increased (moderate certainty), MI (very certainty) There potential incidence. Further (especially non-Asians) are needed confirm findings.

Abstract Background The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio, two simple surrogate indicators of insulin resistance, have been demonstrated predict cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, very few studies investigated their associations with CVD in European populations. Methods A total 403,335 participants from the UK Biobank data for TyG TG/HDL-C ratio free at baseline were included. Cox models applied evaluate association between incident CVD. Mediation analyses performed contribution prevalent diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia observed associations. Results During a median follow-up 8.1 years, 19,754 (4.9%) individuals developed CVD, including 16,404 (4.1%) cases CHD 3976 (1.0%) stroke. multivariable-adjusted hazard ratios higher quartiles versus lowest 1.05, 1.19, respectively, index, 1.07, 1.13, 1.29, ratio. There significant trends toward an increasing risk across In mediation analyses, dyslipidemia, type 2 hypertension explained 45.8%, 27.0%, 15.0% index’s 40.0%, 11.8%, 13.3% ratio’s respectively. Conclusions Elevated associated after adjustment well-established factors. These largely mediated by greater prevalence hypertension.

Abstract Background It has been suggested that the baseline triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a simple surrogate measure for insulin resistance, is significantly associated with occurrence of stroke. Nevertheless, impact longitudinal patterns TyG on stroke risk in hypertensive patients still unknown. Hence, this study aimed to investigate association between index trajectory and among patients. Methods This prospective included 19,924 from Kailuan Study who underwent three waves survey were free myocardial infarction, cancer before or during 2010. The was calculated as ln [fasting triglyceride (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2], latent mixed modelling used identify exposure period (2006–2010). Furthermore, Cox proportional hazard models applied estimate ratio (HR) 95% confidence interval (CI) incident different groups. Results Five distinct identified 2006–2010: low-stable (n = 2483; range, 8.03–8.06), moderate 9666; 8.58–8.57), high-stable 5759; 9.16–9.09), elevated-stable 1741; 9.79–9.75), elevated-increasing 275; 10.38–10.81). During median follow-up 9.97 years, 1,519 cases identified, including 1,351 ischemic 215 hemorrhage After adjusting confounding variables, HR CI 2.21 (1.49,3.28) group, 1.43 (1.13,1.83) 1.35 (1.10,1.64) 1.26 (1.06,1.52) respectively, when compare group. Similar results observed stroke, but significant not found Conclusion A long-term elevated an increased especially finding implies regular monitoring may assist identifying individuals at higher hypertension.

Abstract Objective Current literature is deficient in robust evidence delineating the correlation between triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI) and incidence of stroke. Consequently, this investigation seeks to elucidate potential link TyG-BMI stroke risk a cohort middle-aged senior Chinese individuals. Methods This study employs longitudinal data from four waves China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) conducted 2011, 2013, 2015, 2018, encompassing 8,698 participants. The CHARLS was assembled using multistage probability sampling technique. Participants underwent comprehensive evaluations through standardized questionnaires administered via face-to-face interviews. Our analytic strategy involved application Cox proportional hazards regression models investigate association To discern non-linear relationships, we incorporated with smooth curve fitting. Additionally, executed battery sensitivity subgroup analyses validate robustness our findings. Results utilized multivariate model found significant Specifically, 10-unit increase corresponded 4.9% heightened (HR = 1.049, 95% CI 1.029–1.069). analysis also uncovered pattern relationship, pinpointed by an inflection point at value 174.63. left point—meaning lower values—a hike linked more substantial 14.4% rise 1.144; 1.044–1.253). Background There were seven novel and easily accessed insulin resistance (IR) surrogates established, including the Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI), (VAI), lipid accumulation product (LAP), triglyceride glucose (TyG) index, TyG-body mass (TyG-BMI), TyG-waist circumference (TyG-WC) to height ratio (TyG-WHtR). We aimed explore association between IR incident coronary heart disease (CHD), compare their predictive powers among population. Methods This is a 10-year prospective cohort study conducted in China 6393 participants without cardiovascular (CVD) at baseline. developed Cox regression analyses examine of with CHD (hazard [HR], 95% confidence intervals [CI]). Moreover, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was performed values these indexes for by areas under ROC (AUC). Results During median follow-up period 10.25 years, 246 individuals newly CHD. The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is an alternative marker of insulin resistance (IR) and closely associated with the prevalence prognosis atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). However, association between TyG in-stent restenosis (ISR) after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation in patients acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains unknown. The present study retrospectively recruited who were admitted for ACS underwent angiography at 6 to 24 months successful DES-based percutaneous intervention (PCI).
